2019 Bajaj Dominar Engine Specifications Leaked Online
What's New?
There are plenty of bikes available but choosing the best one is very important. Bajaj 2019 Dominar 400 is one of the popular bikes that have gained massive popularity. This year has seen quite a few interesting launches from Bajaj containing the country’s most affordable bike with self-start as well as the country’s first ABS-equipped 110cc motorcycle.
The Bajaj Dominar 400 is mainly powered by 373.27cc BS6 engine and that develops a power of 39.42 bhp and a torque of 35 Nm. With both front and rear disc brakes, Bajaj Dominar 400 comes with anti-locking braking system. The Dominar 400 bike weighs 187 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 13 litres. The Bajaj Dominar 400 provides excellent value proposition at its price point, but improvements can always be made to the certain product. Keeping that in mind, Bajaj had already gone ahead while updating the Dominar which had received a host of upgrades in 2019, which makes it a better product.
This bike continued with the same design but received a few subtle updates and that offers this an absolutely fresh appeal. This bike is accessible with the choice of two colour schemes- Aurora Green and Vine Black. In terms of equipment, this also features a data-extensive instrument console providing host information to the rider along with a secondary display on the fuel tank.

Bajaj 2019 Dominar 400 Expert Reviews
car&bike Expert Take
“Nearly a decade since it arrived, the Bajaj Dominar 400 still keeps up as a reliable, heavy-duty touring machine. It ignores the sharp, aggressive focus of modern streetfighters, and sticks to its proven 373 cc engine, robust high-speed stability, and low running costs.”
Bajaj Dominar 400 Overview
Since launching in 2016, the Bajaj Dominar 400 has maintained a unique position in the Indian motorcycle market. Without losing its core identity, Bajaj Auto has often updated the bike to attract newer buyers, with the latest iteration bringing with it a lot of meaningful upgrades. You now get a ride-by-wire throttle, four ride modes, and switchable traction control, while the chassis remains simple but highly effective.
The Dominar 400 sits comfortably in the sub-400 cc touring segment, and there is now an LCD console with turn-by-turn navigation arrows to guide your trips. Besides the primary updates, the bike gets some adjustable levers, and most interestingly, a Type-A charging port, while getting rid of the secondary tank-mounted display that came with its previous model. Overall, it packs some strong highway performance, making sure you have something else to check out besides the traditional leaders in this segment.
Our car&bike team reviewed the bike’s performance extensively, with Preetam Bora observing whether this motorcycle completes your long-distance tasks without unnecessary complications or not. His insights are added in this review as well.
punch. During our tests, power delivery felt linear and predictable, but take note, you have to work the gearbox slightly more to get optimum pull at low city speeds.
Preetam points out,
"The engine loves being revved, and those seeking its entertaining performance will appreciate Sport mode."
Regarding driving modes, the difference between Road and Sport modes is quite noticeable. Throttle response feels crisper in Sport mode, with the bike’s engine delivering enough power to make open roads enjoyable without any stress.
Engine & Transmission
Here are the core engine specifications of the Bajaj Dominar 400.
Specification | Details |
Engine | 373.3 cc, Liquid-Cooled, Single-Cylinder |
Power | 39.42 bhp @ 8,800 rpm |
Torque | 35 Nm @ 6,500 rpm |
Transmission | Six-Speed Manual |
City Riding Experience
In urban conditions, the bike gives off a crisp throttle response. The slip-and-assist clutch is light, reducing your fatigue during bumper-to-bumper commutes, and the six-speed gearbox shifts cleanly most of the time. However, the steering geometry does not offer an easy turning radius. Pushing this 193 kg bulk in and out of parking spots feels like a handful.
Highway Riding Experience
Meanwhile, the motorcycle cruises comfortably at 100 kmph on the highways. The engine feels tractable, as you can cruise without knocking at 60 kmph in sixth gear. But pushing it near 6,500 rpm brings prominent vibrations to the footpegs, and overtaking at high speeds requires a quick downshift.
Pros
- Ready-to-use touring parts
- New ride modes and traction control
- Highly stable highway cruising
Cons
- The 193-kg weight compromises manoeuvrability in city traffic
- Noticeable engine vibrations kick in at high speeds
- The design looks old compared to newer alternatives
Verdict
After nearly ten years on the market, the Bajaj Dominar 400 still holds its ground as a highly functional touring motorcycle. The new updates, like the colour screen and traction control, add good value to the package, while the 373.3 cc engine has enough power to keep highway trips fun and lively even in 2026.
However, it faces strong heat from newer bikes. The Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z offers the same power in a much lighter body, and it costs a lot less. The Dominar 400's heavyweight makes it a tough machine to handle in slow traffic. But if you do not mind the heavy build and simply want a proven, stable bike for long trips, it is still a highly sensible purchase.
Preetam concludes,
“The Bajaj Dominar 400 makes the cut as a versatile, do-it-all motorcycle, if you’re looking for one motorcycle which will do a bit of everything; commutes, leisurely weekend rides and the occasional long-distance tour.”
