The Triumph Speed 440 is the all-new, made-in-India Triumph motorcycle and is now the brand’s most affordable and accessible model. The Speed 400 is powered by a single-cylinder engine that boosts low-end torque with linear performance and refinement. The Speed 400 belongs to Triumph’s modern classic roadster family of motorcycles that consists of the Speed Twin 900 and 1200 and the Bonneville range.

Following a modern classic design, the Speed 400 features a steel tubular frame with a bolt-on subframe and cast aluminium swingarm. The motorcycle features a round headlamp with circular turn indicators, a tear-drop-shaped fuel tank, a flat single-piece saddle, and an upswept exhaust. The bike comes with a semi-digital instrument console featuring a large analogue speedometer and a digital display that packs a gear position indicator, tachometer, fuel gauge and other information.

Powering the Triumph Speed 400 is an all-new air/oil-cooled 398 cc, single-pot liquid-cooled mill that registers 39.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox accompanied by a slipper clutch. The service intervals for the Speed 400 stand at every 16,000 km, which is impressive.

Coming to the cycle parts, the Speed 400 is a road-focused motorcycle. That said, it is suspended by a USD fork at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. For braking, the motorcycle employs disc brakes at both ends, accompanied by dual-channel ABS. The bike comes with a switchable traction control system. Furthermore, the motorcycle rides on 17-inch alloys at both ends shod with Metzeler M9RR tyres. The Speed 400 tips the scale at 170 kg and comes with a 13-litre fuel tank.

Triumph offers the Speed 400 in a single variant, but offers three colour schemes to choose from – Carnival Red with Phantom Black, Caspian Blue with Storm Grey, and Phantom Black with Storm Grey.
