The Polaris-owned bike-maker has added a new model to its range of bikes for the Indian market- Indian Chieftain Dark Horse. Carrying a lofty price, the new model in the line-up is essentially a blacked out, matte finished version of the bagger. In line with the Chief Classic and its Dark Horse equivalent, the 2016 Indian Chieftain Dark Horse takes cues from the standard Chieftain and shares the same engine. That said the 2016 Indian Chieftain Dark Horse uses the 1811cc V-Twin Thunder Stroke 111 powertrain paired to a six-speed gearbox for transmitting power to rear wheels.
Much like its heavy weight, the new Indian Chieftain Dark Horse price for the Indian market is quite exorbitant at Rs 31.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The black paint job and the matte finish works well for the premium cruiser. Based on the Indian Chieftain, the Dark Horse version shares the same mechanicals as the standard model.

The heavy-weight premium cruiser borrows inputs from the standard model and additionally, it gets some enhancements. Use of chrome on the matte black body paint looks good. Although, the chrome is used aptly replaced by the black fairing, fuel tank It also gets a slew of goodies like the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment cluster and power windscreen to name a few.

Power is sourced from the high capacity 1811cc V-Twin, Thunder Stroke 111 engine belting out maximum power of 73bhp and top torque of 140Nm. Drive is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed transmission.

It gets a raft of high tech, there is a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment cluster that flashes real time clock, ambient air temperature. Besides, it also provides access to the premium audio system. For the safety, it gets provisions including ABS, cruise control, remote key fob with keyless ignition. The hard bags on the cruise provide enough space for storage. Apart from the aforementioned features, the bike sports fitments such as 46mm front forks, disc brakes at front and rear and a 21-litre fuel tank.
