Aston-Martin SUV Cars in India

Aston Martin on Tuesday announced plans for a luxury crossover SUV that may draw more heavily on its partnership with Daimler, as the British sports car maker confirmed moves to raise more capital and expand into new vehicle categories.

Aston Martin's first sport utility vehicle rolled off the production line on Thursday, key to hopes of a turnaround at the luxury carmaker which has seen changes in management and ownership over the last few months amid a torrid performance.

Aston Martin, which was reported this week to be the target of Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll, said it was not actively pursuing new investors on Friday as it opened a new factory to build its first sport utility vehicle.

The company has already received a bunch of bookings for the SUV, though the allotment for India is not very high and runs in single digit figures. The booking amount for the Aston Martin DBX is set at Rs. 1 crore

The virtual development of the DBX SUV began way back in 2015 and the physical testing of the car started in Wales last year. The DBX signals a new era in Aston Martin's pursuit to deliver an SUV with sports car levels of dynamic performance

Over six months were spent solely focused on defining the position of the driver within the vehicle, with enough movement in the driver's seat and steering column to allow clear visibility of all controls, screens and through windows.

A prototype model of the upcoming Aston Martin DBX has been spotted testing, and this is one of clearest images of the production version of the British sports car maker's first SUV. The test mule is still heavily covered in camouflage, however, by the looks of it the car appears to be almost production-ready, and geared-up for its global debut, which is expected to happen by the end of this year.

Real world testing of the DBX has already been started and over the last few months the DBX has been put through its paces in all environments from the Arctic Circle to the unique challenges of the Nurburgring Nordschleife.

The Aston Martin DBX will be powered by an AMG sourced 493 bhp, 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 motor. The company is also expected to offer the DBX with its in-house V12 engine sometime later and a hybrid variant with improved low-end torque is also under evaluation. The spy pictures also show a roll cage at the rear and some extra hardware on the rear seat which simulates the added weight of the rear passengers. Since it's still a prototype, production-ready elements like final taillights and the flush rear door handles are missing at the rear.

British marque, Aston Martin, is all set to the join the list of luxury car brands that we thought will never make an SUV. Set to be based on the DBX concept, we have only China to thank for the upcoming Aston Martin SUV.
