Renault Scala or the badge-engineered Nissan Sunny was the fifth model from Renault in India. This chic sedan from Renault is available in petrol and diesel engine choices. Powering the petrol range is a 1.5 litre, XH2 engine capable of pulling off max power of 99PS at 6000rpm along with 134Nm at 4000rpm. Scala featuring diesel heart derives power from 86PS, 200Nm 1.5 litre dCi engine. Both engines are paired to a five-speed manual gearbox. 

Renault-Nissan agreed on badge-engineered products for India and launched a couple of models one of which was Scala sedan. Based on Nissan Sunny, Scala opened to an overwhelming response but gradually lost ground in the highly competitive mid-size sedan segment. Use of key elements like chrome garnish in front, flanks and rear, alloy wheels, power adjusting & folding wing mirrors bring it on par with the rivals. Interiors are spacious, packed with leather upholstered seats, 5-inch screen display audio system, automatic climate control etc. Mechanicals powering Scala range include 1.5 litre units in petrol and diesel fuel options.

The Nissan based Scala sedan is styled tastefully with elements like smoked-style headlamps reminiscent of Fluence, dual tone bumper, round shaped fog lamps and chrome accented grille. ORVMs come with integrated turn indicators and chrome is used in front, side and rear.

Renault Scala Engine Specifications & Transmission

The model series is offered in petrol and diesel engine choices, transmission options include a five-speed conventional manual gearbox. Petrol variants house 1.5 litre, unit producing 98bhp at 6000rpm and 134Nm torque at 4000rpm. Diesel range gets a 1.5 litre dCi engine churning out 85bhp at 3750rpm and 200Nm at 2000rpm.

Petrol powered Scala is claimed to return ARAI rated fuel economy of 16.95km/l and diesel variants can deliver 21.64km/l.
