Okinawa updated its PraisePro electric scooter recently. We spent some time with the scooter to sample the changes and see how the updates make the scooter better.
Okinawa's volumes nearly doubled in October with 17,531 units sold, when compared to September this year when the company sold 8,494 units (as per Vahan data).
While the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, sources in the company said that the fire was caused due to a short circuit and does not have anything to do with the ongoing battery recall. No injuries were reported.
Okinawa achieved the domestic sales figure with its high-speed and low-speed models, with the iPraise+ and the Praise Pro electric scooters contributing nearly 60-70 per cent share of the yearly sales.
The Okinawa Oki90 electric scooter will be launched in the fourth quarter of FY2022 or early 2022. Like the Oki100, it will be a high-speed EV, with 90 kmph top speed and 175-200 km range.
Okinawa Autotech has a new plant coming up in Rajasthan. Earlier, the company said that it will invest close to Rs. 150 crore in the new plant. But now, the investment may go up to Rs. 200 crore-250 crore.
Okinawa sold 4467 units in April, 5649 units in May and 5860 units in June this year, while also expanding its dealership network in the southern states.
