Exclusive: Okinawa Oki90 Electric Scooter Launch Details, Range, Top Speed Revealed

- Okinawa Oki90 to be launched in the last quarter of FY2022
- It will be a high-speed electric scooter; Top speed will be over 100 kmph
- Range is likely to be close to 200 km on a single charge
Along with the Oki100, Okinawa will also launch the Oki90 electric scooter. It will be launched in early 2022, the first quarter of the next financial year. It will be a high-speed electric scooter and will have a range of close to 200 km along with a top speed of 90 kmph. Jeetender Sharma, Co-Founder and MD, Okinawa Autotech revealed the details to carandbike in an exclusive interaction. Speaking with carandbike, Sharma said that Okinawa Autotech is gearing up to meet the demand for EVs which has increased with rising petrol prices, as well as more acceptance of EV products in the market.

The Oki90 will have a removable lithium-ion battery with a fast charger, and can be charged up to 80 per cent of capacity in just 45 minutes, Sharma told carandbike. The Oki90 is likely to have a centrally mounted motor. The Oki90 will be a connected electric scooter and get features like geo-fencing, navigation, diagnostics and so on. Expect the scooter to have an embedded 4G SIM as well. The Oki90 will have tough competition from the newly launched duo of Ola Electric S1 and the Simple Energy One. Both scooters have a long list of features and it will take a really good product from Okinawa to give these scooters a run of the money.
The Oki90 is expected to be priced aggressively, probably less than Rs. 1 lakh when it goes on sale early next year. Before the Oki90 is launched, Okinawa plans to launch the Oki100 electric motorcycle, which will have similar specifications as the Oki90 and will be Okinawa's first electric motorcycle.
