Hero Glamour Overview
Hero Glamour and Indian roads; this has been one long-lasting union for two decades now. Launched in 2005, the 125 cc bike was meant to attract riders who were content with frugal fuel economy back then. But as time went on, and buyer demands began to change throughout generations, Hero Motocorp completely reinvented the popular motorcycle to keep its relevance intact.
Even today, this bike’s chassis remains reassuringly balanced for navigating chaotic traffic, while the suspension easily adjusts to broken Indian roads. The new variants also feel far more premium than their older versions. For example, the newer Hero Glamour X offers something more besides fuel economy, such as segment-first cruise control and ride modes. However, while the names across the standard model, the ‘X’, and the ‘Xtec’ variant share the same name and the exact engine platform, they’re interestingly not included in the same family by Hero.
Going back to the base variant, the original Glamour, Preetam Bora constantly kept track of its performance and newer launches throughout the years. We have added a few of those reviews and news pieces into this analysis to help you understand the bike’s position in the current market today.
This motorcycle relies on its proven 124.7 cc engine and its five-speed gearbox to deliver its punchy, reliable performance. This setup has always meant basic functionality, but it has always been comfortable enough for the rider to daily hit the road.
Preetam speaks about its commuter-level performance,
“55 to 65 kilometres per hour is where the Glamour is happiest, with enough punch in reserve to make a quick overtake and hit over 80 kmph.”

City Riding Experience
The bike’s throttle response is crisp and energetic inside the city. It’s easy to engage and manage, as the engine is peppy enough for quick bursts and reliable enough for slow traffic crawls without shutting down.
Preetam observes,
“The clutch is light, the five gears slot into place quickly and accelerating through the gearbox gives an experience which does not have any unpleasant vibrations or stress.”
Highway Riding Experience
The engine is remarkably consistent on the highways. It cruises comfortably at 70-80 kmph without feeling strained. But continuously pushing it past 90 kmph can be a real challenge since it's a basic, entry-level commuter motorcycle. We wouldn’t recommend that you check whether the engine can go for triple-digit overtaking or not; at 60-70 kmph, it’s fine, though.
While the original Hero Glamour keeps its chequered stripes design, the Glamour X takes a step back from that language and shows off a more aggressive and sharper profile. The standard variant is the same as before, confined to commuter motorcycle proportions.

Build Quality & Materials
The paint finish feels rich and glossy across the tank shrouds. The switchgear plastics are decent, but we came across a few panel gaps upon close inspection. However, the long, well-cushioned seats have excellent comfort for both the rider and the pillion, and the robust chassis feels perfectly built for enduring rough Indian roads day after day.

The exterior updates have made this bike look more youthful than before. It combines stylish aesthetics with modern practicality, and on some accounts, it does look like a muscular bike from certain angles.

Practical Integration
Hero has put several useful elements into the bike's bodywork. The mirrors provide a decent field of view, though their edges are slightly distorted. Additionally, there is a discreetly placed USB charging port to make sure your smartphone stays powered during long city runabouts. While the higher-end variants get an LCD instrument cluster, the standard model is still hanging around with the traditional and basic digital-analogue setup.
Hero Motocorp, throughout 20 years, has always aggressively priced its motorcycle to disrupt and own the 125 cc space. Buyers can choose between two clear variants here. The base version features drum brakes, while the other has a front disc brake.

Hero has packed the Glamour with several useful features that actually make a difference to your daily commute. Still, since it’s mostly meant to be an entry-level bike, we also need to manage some expectations here.
Instrumentation & Connectivity
- The bike’s proven instrument cluster gives real-time information, such as mileage, speed, and kilometres covered in a trip.
- Hero’s i3S technology is available on this bike, letting you save fuel in stop-start traffic, too.
- Other readouts include a malfunction indicator, gear position indicator, and a side-stand indicator.
- The updated models also get a better LED headlight and hazard indicators.
- Unfortunately, the bike does not have Bluetooth connectivity, something that has been given to its ‘X’ and ‘Xtech’ variants instead.
According to Preetam,
“Taking centre stage in the cockpit is the instrument console. Visibility is excellent, and all useful information is clearly laid out and easy to access.”
Practical Technology & Storage Integration
- A handy USB Type-C charging port comes with the bike to keep your phone juiced up.
- Under-seat storage is not much, but it’s enough to tuck away your vehicle documents and a small toolkit.
Safety Technology
- The Combined Braking System (CBS) comes standard, linking the front and rear brakes for better stopping confidence.
- Higher variants get a front disc brake, though a single-channel ABS is noticeably absent.
- The side-stand engine cut-off sensor ensures you cannot ride away with the stand down.
The chassis setup on the Glamour is one built clearly for comfort rather than aggressive cornering or high levels of performance. It absorbs the worst of our roads without disturbing your riding comfort.
City Handling
Filtering through heavy traffic is effortless. The light kerb weight of around 122 kg makes the bike incredibly responsive when you need to switch lanes quickly. You can also easily dash through the tightest of gaps, while the accessible 790-793 mm seat height lets average-sized riders plant their feet firmly on the ground.
Highway Stability
The bike holds its line well at cruising speeds up to 80 kmph over long stretches as well. Crosswinds do not unsettle it much, thanks to the composed diamond tubular frame. Pushing past 90 kmph introduces slight vibrations, but it remains remarkably stable for a 125 cc commuter.
Suspension Behaviour
Hero has hit the sweet spot with the damping here. The front gets a telescopic fork, while the rear relies on five-step adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers. It simply glides through bad patches and speed breakers without throwing you off balance.
Preetam specifies,
“This suspension has mostly been tuned for comfort over city roads.”
Rider & Pillion Comfort
- The seat is long and heavily cushioned, preventing fatigue during extended hours in the saddle.

- Drum Variant: This entry-level option gives you the same refined 124.7 cc engine and comfortable ride quality. It makes sense for pure budget-conscious buyers.
- Disc Variant: We strongly recommend that you spend more for this one instead; it's totally worth it. The bike gets a much-needed front disc brake for stronger stopping power.
With every brand trying to grab market share in the crowded 125 cc segment, the Hero Glamour faces direct heat from the reliable Honda SP 125 and the sporty TVS Raider. The Honda appeals to those wanting extreme refinement, while the TVS targets the younger crowd with its sharp looks. Verdict
The Hero Glamour has successfully withstood the competition for two decades, proving that everyday commuters do not have to be boring. Hero’s package was, and always will be, desirable considering how it handles city traffic with absolute ease while returning excellent fuel economy.
No ABS, however, means that it feels like a missed opportunity for a bike with so much potential. Besides that, the panel gaps and slightly distorted rear-view mirrors also remind you that it is built to a strict price. Yet, the overall riding experience easily outshines these minor flaws. If you want a daily driver that offers brilliant comfort and does not force you to visit the petrol pump often, this one is hard to ignore.
