Why Honda Remains a Favourite Among Indian Riders

Honda has been building motorcycles since 1949 and today is the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer. Over the decades, the company has earned a reputation for making two-wheelers that are reliable, easy to ride and economical to own. That philosophy continues to shape every Honda new model bike, from entry-level commuters to premium motorcycles.

Honda's journey in India began through its partnership with Hero before establishing Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) as a wholly owned subsidiary in 1999. Since then, the company has expanded rapidly, becoming one of the country's leading two-wheeler manufacturers with a strong presence across scooters, commuter bikes, premium motorcycles and electric mobility.

One of Honda's biggest strengths is the variety of its lineup. Buyers looking for an everyday scooter can choose models like the Activa and Dio, while commuters have options such as the Shine, SP125, Unicorn and SP160. Riders looking for more performance can explore motorcycles like the Hornet 2.0 and CB300F, while the H'ness CB350, CB350RS and CB350 cater to those who enjoy classic styling with modern engineering. Honda's BigWing range also includes adventure bikes, sport motorcycles and touring machines for enthusiasts who want something more premium.

Honda manufactures many of its bikes and scooters in India through multiple production facilities, allowing it to serve both domestic and international markets efficiently. Combined with its wide sales and service network, this has helped Honda become one of the most trusted names in the Indian two-wheeler market.

Today, Honda bikes and scooters are known for their refined engines, excellent fuel efficiency, comfortable ride quality and dependable long-term ownership. Whether you're buying your first commuter motorcycle, upgrading to a Honda 350 cc bike, or considering a premium touring machine, Honda offers a two-wheeler for almost every riding style and budget.

Technology That Makes Honda Bikes Stand Out

Honda has always focused on making bikes and scooters that are easy to ride, fuel-efficient and dependable. Over the years, the brand has added more technology without making its two-wheelers complicated to use.

    Smooth and Refined Engines

One of the biggest reasons riders choose Honda bikes is their smooth engine performance. No matter if it's a daily commuter like the Shine or Unicorn, or a Honda 350 cc bike like the H'ness CB350, Honda engines are known for low vibrations, smooth power delivery and comfortable everyday riding.

    Smart Features for Everyday Use

Many Honda bikes and scooters now come with features that make daily riding more convenient. Depending on the model, buyers can get silent start technology, an idle stop system, Smart Key with keyless operation, USB charging, LED lighting and fully digital instrument consoles. Premium models also offer Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone voice control.

    Connected Technology on Premium Models

Honda has gradually introduced connected features across its premium lineup. Select motorcycles support smartphone connectivity for calls, navigation and music controls, while newer scooters and motorcycles also offer digital displays with useful ride information. These features are mainly available on higher variants and BigWing motorcycles.

A Bike for Every Type of Rider

Honda's lineup covers almost every riding style. If you want maximum fuel efficiency, bikes like the Shine and SP125 are among the most popular choices. Riders looking for a Honda 150cc bike or a comfortable everyday motorcycle can consider the Unicorn or SP160, while those planning longer rides have options like the CB350 range, NX series and Gold Wing.

Safety Features Across Honda Bikes and Scooters

Honda has steadily improved safety across its range by introducing better braking systems, rider aids and stronger chassis designs. But do note that safety features vary depending on the model and variant.

    ABS and Confident Braking

Many Honda motorcycles are available with single-channel or dual-channel ABS, depending on the segment. Higher-capacity motorcycles sold through BigWing also feature larger disc brakes and advanced braking systems for better control during emergency braking.

    Honda Selectable Torque Control

Premium Honda motorcycles such as the CB350 range, NX500 and several larger bikes come with Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). This system helps improve grip by reducing wheel spin on slippery roads, giving riders more confidence in changing road conditions.

    Everyday Safety Features

Several Honda bikes and scooters are equipped with features such as Combined Braking System (CBS), side-stand engine cut-off, hazard lamps, LED lighting and engine kill switches. These may seem like small additions, but they make everyday riding safer and more convenient.

Built for Stable and Predictable Handling

Honda motorcycles are known for their balanced handling and easy riding nature. Whether it's a scooter like the Activa, a commuter bike like the Shine or a touring motorcycle from the BigWing range, Honda focuses on making its two-wheelers stable, comfortable and easy to control for riders of different experience levels.

    Why Choose Honda Bikes?

Honda has earned the trust of lakhs of Indian riders by focusing on what matters most in everyday ownership. Here are some of the biggest reasons why Honda bikes and scooters continue to be popular across India.

    • Reliable engines: Honda motorcycles are known for smooth performance and long-term dependability when serviced regularly.
    • Excellent fuel efficiency: Many commuter bikes and scooters deliver impressive mileage, helping reduce running costs.
    • Wide range of choices: From family scooters and commuter motorcycles to adventure bikes and premium tourers, Honda has a two-wheeler for almost every rider.
    • Low maintenance: Routine servicing is straightforward, and spare parts are widely available for most popular models.
    • Strong resale value: Popular Honda bikes and scooters generally retain their value well in the used two-wheeler market.
    • Trusted brand: Decades of experience and a large customer base have made Honda one of the most trusted names in the Indian two-wheeler industry.

    Ownership Experience

One of the biggest reasons people continue to buy Honda bikes and scooters is the ownership experience. The brand has built a reputation for dependable products that are easy to maintain, reliable and affordable to own over the long run.

    Wide Service Network

Honda has one of the largest sales and service networks in India, making it easy for owners to find authorised workshops in most cities and towns. If you are looking for a routine service or searching for a Honda bike showroom near me, support is widely available.

    Warranty & Roadside Assistance

Honda offers a standard manufacturer warranty on its bikes and scooters, along with extended warranty plans on selected models. Roadside assistance is also available for added peace of mind during breakdowns or long rides.

    Spare Parts & Maintenance

Routine servicing is generally affordable, and genuine spare parts are easily available for most Honda models. Popular commuters like the Shine, SP125, Unicorn and Activa also benefit from lower maintenance costs compared to many rivals.

    Strong Resale Value

Honda two-wheelers have consistently enjoyed good resale value in the used market. Popular models like the Activa, Shine, SP125 and Unicorn continue to see strong demand because of their reliability and widespread popularity.

    Long-Term Reliability

Regular servicing goes a long way with a Honda. Many owners keep their bikes and scooters for years, making the brand a popular choice for riders who want trouble-free ownership and predictable running costs.

What to Know Before Buying a Honda Bike or Scooter

Honda has a bike or scooter for almost every type of rider, but there are a few things worth considering before making your decision.

    • Performance isn't the priority on every model: Many Honda commuters are tuned for smoothness, comfort and fuel efficiency rather than outright performance.
    • Premium features vary across the range: Features like Bluetooth connectivity, traction control and TFT displays are usually available on higher-end or BigWing models.
    • BigWing motorcycles have fewer outlets: Premium Honda motorcycles are sold through BigWing dealerships, which may not be available in every city.
    • Choose the right bike for your riding style: A scooter may be more practical for daily city use, while touring or weekend rides are better suited to the CB350 or NX series.
    • Waiting periods may vary: Popular scooters and newly launched models can sometimes have longer waiting periods in certain locations.

    car&bike Expert Buying Tips

Buying the right Honda isn't just about choosing the newest model. Think about how and where you'll ride most of the time.

    • For everyday city riding, scooters like the Activa or commuter bikes like the Shine and SP125 are practical, easy to maintain and fuel-efficient.
    • If you're looking for a Honda 150cc bike, compare the Unicorn and SP160 based on whether you prefer comfort or sportier styling.
    • Planning long highway rides? The CB350 range offers a more relaxed riding experience, while the NX series is better suited to riders who also enjoy touring and occasional rough roads.
    • Compare variants before booking. Higher variants often add useful features such as LED lighting, digital displays, Bluetooth connectivity or Smart Key technology.
    • Always take a test ride. Comfort, seat height, riding posture and handling can feel very different from one Honda bike or scooter to another, so it's worth spending time with the model before making your final decision

  • Looks good.. Fat tyres..
    3.0
    Sandeep
Looks good.. Smooth engine. Fat tyres.. Nice rumble.. However, seat height is still on the higher side. 800 mm seat height is too high for short riders. If you are below 5ft 8 inches, then it would be bit high for you. Also, they are still using single cradle chassis in the lower segment Honda bikes. They should change to twin cradle chassis. Even a 150 cc CB Hornet comes with upside down forks, but they did not give that in this 350 cc bike..

The Honda CB350 is a standout cruiser that brings retro styling and modern performance together beautifully. Its 350cc engine offers a satisfying blend of torque and smoothness, making it ideal for highway cruising and city rides alike. The signature throaty exhaust note gives it a distinctive character and an enjoyable riding experience. Honda has equipped the CB350 with advanced features like Bluetooth connectivity, a semi-digital instrument cluster, and traction control, ensuring that it keeps pace with modern demands. The classic styling, with its chrome highlights and comfortable wide seat, adds to its nostalgic charm while providing excellent rider comfort for long trips. The CB350’s impeccable build quality and thoughtful design make it a head-turner and a reliable companion on any journey.

    Emmanuel Arun Kumar Santhakumar
I bought Shine 100 just before 2 Months. Nearly 2800 kms driven. Shine 100 gives smooth ride within 60 kms/Hour Speed. Mileage is 69 Kms/Litre.( 16 Kms of 4 Track road drive and remaining Dindigul Town Roads Drive. ) Style is Simple Slim and Good. Weightless Bike feels like E-Bike. Best Bike for all both Short Normal and Tall people. Top Speed Performance not feasible in safe mode. Shine 100 will be the No.1 selling 100cc bike in India.

  • Reliable Commuter with Great Comfort and Mileage
    5.0
    MANGESH PAWADE
The Honda Unicorn truly lives up to its reputation for reliability and comfort. Its design is simple yet classy, appealing to riders of all ages. The seating comfort is a standout feature, making it ideal for long city commutes as well as highway rides. Both rider and pillion enjoy a smooth experience, thanks to the well-cushioned seat and excellent suspension setup. Performance-wise, the 160cc engine feels refined and delivers power in a very smooth manner. It’s not built for aggressive speed, but for those who value stability, durability, and a calm ride, it’s perfect. The gear shifts are seamless, and the bike handles city traffic effortlessly while staying stable at higher speeds. Mileage is another strong point—consistently delivering around 50–55 km/l in mixed conditions, which makes it economical for daily use. Servicing experience with Honda has been reliable, with spare parts easily available and reasonable maintenance costs. Overall, the Unicorn is an ideal choice for someone looking for a no-nonsen
