The Honda Dio is the most exported scooter from Honda to other markets. It is a stylish 110 cc that serves as a nice alternative to the Activa. The Dio lacks features and has an average build quality. But it makes up in the styling department, with fancy colours, cool graphics and sporty performance. The Dio could be the ideal scooter for college-goers and young professionals. The ownership cost is very close to that of the Honda Activa.

    Honda Dio Expert Review

    line

    Honda Dio

Honda Dio is a refreshingly popular and peppy scooter in the market and first arrived in 2002. It was then the first such Moto-scooter option in the country. The company has periodically upgraded the hot-selling Dio model and the latest version came in February, 2020 as well. It also achieved sizable success like its earlier versions.

    How is the design?

The Honda Dio offers an attractive design with seven colour options including Vibrant Orange, Candy Jazzy Blue, Sports Red, Matte Axis Grey, Matte Sangria Red Metallic, Dazzle Yellow Metallic, and Matte Axis Grey Metallic. The Honda Dio has always won brownie points for its compelling design theme.

    How is the performance?

The Honda Dio comes with a 109.51 cc air cooled and single cylinder engine that also gets an accompanying programmed fuel injection setup. There is also ACG starter technology offered by Honda alongside. This engine dishes out 7.76 PS of maximum power and 9 Nm of peak torque alongside. The engine is also paired to a CVT unit for maximum convenience while riding. The Japanese engine offers great refinement and quality overall.

How does the Honda Dio ride?

The Honda Dio comes with front telescopic forks along with a three-step spring-loaded rear hydraulic shock absorber. The Moto Scooter comes with a 12-inch front tyre and a rear 10-inch option.

How comfortable is the Honda Dio?

The Honda Dio is wider, longer, and taller as compared to the previous version. It has a new chassis and there is a new frame which ensures a higher wheelbase as well. The Honda Dio weighs 107 kg and is similar to the Honda Activa 6G. The scooter also comes with a telescopic fork and a front 12-inch wheel like the Activa 6G.

    How’s the tech?

The Honda Dio comes with several features including a digital instrument console, LED DRL and headlamp and a side-stand engine cut-off switch along with a three-step Eco indicator. The Honda Dio also gets drum brakes for both rear and front while CBS comes as an extra safety choice. The Honda Dio gets the silent-start system and the digital instrument console is only offered for the scooter’s Deluxe variant. The Standard version gets an analogue instrument cluster while the external cap for fuel can be opened through a switch positioned in proximity to the keyhole and there is a pass-light switch.

How’s the mileage of the Honda Dio?

The mileage of the Honda Dio stands at 50 kmpl.

Is the Honda Dio good value for money?

The Honda Dio offers great value for money with its stylish design and attractive features including a digital instrument console. It also comes with a peppy Japanese engine with innovative technologies alongside as well. This makes the scooter a great option for buyers without a doubt.

How is the after sales service?

The service intervals are 750-1000 kilometres and 5500-6000 kilometres along with 11,500 kilometres for the third service.

Which motorbikes compete in this segment?

There are several rivals for the Honda Dio including the Honda Activa 6G, TVS NTorq 125 and the Suzuki Access along with the Hero Maestro Edge. It often enters into a major rivalry with the Honda Activa 6G, its own stable-mate. This gets the same 109.51 cc engine which makes 7.68 BHP and ensures mileage of 48 kmpl. The Honda Dio also competes with the Yamaha RayZR 125.

Verdict (Is it value for money)

The Honda Dio is a great value proposition for buyers with its attractive design and great features along with its refined engine and overall performance. The Honda Dio is undoubtedly one of the best picks in its category and brings a new style and feel to the riding experience. This makes it a good pick over the Activa 6G for those seeking something slightly sportier and more attractive.
