Mumbai based Tata Motors Limited is a part of USD 100 billion Tata Group. Founded in 1945, Tata Motors initially produced locomotives and later forayed in passenger vehicle segment in 1991 with Tata Sierra SUV. Tata Indica is among the initial models launched by Tata in India and it shares underpinnings with various Tata cars. The company also rolled out the world’s cheapest car, Nano hatchback in 2008. In the same year, Tata Motors acquired British premium automotive brand, Jaguar Land Rover from Ford Motors. Tata Motors’ product range comprises of hatchbacks, sedans and utility vehicles. Tata Motors has multiple manufacturing facilities in India located in Pune, Jamshedpur, Pantnagar, Dharwad, Lucknow and Sanand.
Tata India offers a total of 18 car models. These consist of 3 Tata upcoming cars and 15 new Tata cars in India. While it looks great and offers a decent range, I found the boot space to be quite limited, and the engine performance doesn’t feel strong enough for highway driving. The suspension could be smoother, and the charging infrastructure in my city isn’t the best, making it inconvenient for long trips. I also think the maintenance cost for an EV is still quite high. They don't let you know that different quotes of insurance is available with company after all insurance is third party. They gave me paytm Fasttag for 200/- which is available by paytm for Rs. 100/- only and that does not work either even after payment. I called them numerous times but their response after selling car is " mam you have to call helpline number yourself we sold you said product and we can't do anything further ". Question is if you can't handle issues of products then why are you selling it to customers. Our money is very hard earned money, for me my 100/- counts too and what sales executive said that if you are spending 6lakhs then what is the question of 500/- or 1000/- . When I reached their showroom to take delivery of car one of executive abruptly said that I have many customers today Kindly take delivery quickly. The steering is light and gear shift is easy like the hyundai cars. Suspension and drive on and off roads are really good. Decent turning radius and good corner stability control,.not much of a body considering the height and length of the car. Interior plastics are taken from tiago and are decent for the price, not to compare it with VW. As always Tata cars are sturdy and kerb weight is high compared to the maruti cars.
