Tata Indigo Latest Update

Tata Motors pioneered the sub-four meter segment with Indigo eCS which later drew attention for lower cess. With new entrants jumping on the bandwagon every year, the segment has swollen in size. In a bid to level up to the rivals, Tata Motors gave it a facelift in 2014, sporting cosmetic tweaks on the outside and inside.

Tata Indigo eCS is available in petrol and diesel fuel options, deriving power from one petrol and two diesel units. Transmission options include the conventional five-speed manual gearbox barring the AMT unit. The sedan appears a tad dated despite cosmetic upgrades on the inside and outside. 

Tata Indigo eCS Exterior 

Indigo eCS received multiple styling updates on the outside. The face sports chrome finished radiator grille and dual chamber halogen headlamps. Fog lamps are equipped in front and rear. Adding sporty flair to it is the moulding on the flanks.

Inside, it dons dual tone interior scheme and partial fabric lined seat covers. Only the top-spec variant in the line-up gets full fabric upholstery. In the last update, Tata have added new features to the cabin such as four spoke steering wheel, cooled-glovebox etc. to make it more comfortable. 

Tata Indigo eCS Engine Specifications & Transmission

Petrol variants equip a 1.2 litre, MPFi, BSIV compliant engine good for 64bhp at 5000rpm and 100Nm torque at 2700rpm. Diesel powered Indigo eCS gets a choice between the 1396cc, CR4 engine putting put 69bhp and a 1405cc, BS3 engine churning out 69bhp. While power output is similar for both diesel engines, there is a slight difference in torque at 140Nm for the CR4 engine and 135Nm for the BS3 unit.

Exterior styling elements such as sporty dual tone bumpers, body coloured door handles, chrome strip on hood, diamond chromed grille and rear chrome garnish adorn the sedan. Cabin gets theatre dimming lights, anti-glare IRVM and leather wrapped 4-spoke steering wheel.

Fuel economy for the BS3 diesel variants is rated at 19.60km/l whereas the BSIV unit delivers imposing mileage of 25km/l.

Inside, it sports an advanced multifunction music system with Bluetooth, USB port, AUX-IN, radio and CD player.

Force to retard speed comes from ventilated disc brakes at front axle and drum units at rear axle.  

Tata Indigo eCS Safety & Security

Safety equipment on the Indigo include ABS, central locking, keyless entry, LED high mounted stop lamp, child safety lock on rear doors, collapsible steering, driver seat belt warning and E-ORVM with third lane. 

Tata Indigo eCS Comfort & Convenience

It gets an array of comfort features like air conditioner with heater, power steering, power windows in front & rear, adjustable front headrest, boot lamp, bottle holder on front door, eat back pocket, driver’s side one shot down power window, height adjuster for driver and rear arm rest. Other features including cooled glove-box and auto drive assist are available only on the CR4 engine. 

Tata Indigo eCS Wheels & Tyres

Radial tyres measuring 175/65 R14 are equipped in front and rear. Alloy wheels are restricted to the top-spec variant and others get wheel caps.
