Tata Altroz Review and Opinion - Top Things to Know
The Tata Altroz is one of the few premium hatchbacks still on sale in India amidst the huge and trending demand of SUVs. It was first launched in 2020, and the recent facelift has kept it modern for recent times, and relevant amidst the competition. Bilal Firfiray and Seshan Vijayraghvan tested both the diesel manual and the CNG versions. Here are the five key takeaways from the Altroz's in-depth first drive impression already live on our website.

- The Altroz has always been stunning to look at.
- Despite the changes, the facelift more of refines its design now.
- The hatchback gets sharper edges, fresh LED DRLs, and a streamlined bumper.

Seshan has detailed the changes on the facelifted Altroz saying, "One instruction that Tata designers had with this facelift is that it should be recognisable as the Altroz, and they have done their job to the tee. Describing their work with the facelift – both inside and out – in a word would be ‘smart’. The headlamps and bonnet shape haven’t changed. But the headlamps now get a new eyebrow DRL with twin-barrel LEDs inside the smoked finish. Even the grille connecting the two headlamps is new, but adding a connected lighting strip here would have made it more 'family-friendly'. What’s even more family-friendly is the lower bumper, which takes cues from the Nexon with flared vertical vents on either side. There are horizontal louvres lower down the bumper, making it look more modern than before."
Pros
- Most modern looks in the segment
- New variants including CNG
- Feature-packed refreshed interior
Cons
- Mediocre finesse
- Petrol model not fuel-efficient
Verdict
The Tata Altroz facelift brings in modern tech with a premium design, especially with its new bold grille and LED lighting. Features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen are latest to its segment, but the good thing is, it continues to boast a five-star safety rating (Bharat NCAP) across petrol, diesel, and CNG variants. So, with multiple powertrain options, adequate comfort, safety, and style; it shines in its segment.

- Disappointed with Tata Altroz Engine Issues2.0XZ Plus Petrol(Petrol)I really wanted to love my Tata Altroz, but the engine has been a real letdown. Right from the start, I noticed a sluggish response, especially when trying to pick up speed on highways. In city traffic, the engine feels jerky, making it hard to drive smoothly. There's also a noticeable engine noise that gets louder over time, which is frustrating on longer trips. I’ve also faced a few unexpected stalls, which is honestly a bit worrying. I love the design and features Tata has packed in here, but these engine problems are hard to overlook and really dampen the whole experience.By Jagdeep SethPosted on: Oct 29, 2024 03:27 PM00

- Average Mileage Makes tata altroz an average car3.0XM Plus (S) Diesel(Diesel)The Altroz looks great, and the interiors are pretty spacious and well-designed. The mileage is average, nothing too impressive, but good for city driving. The rear seat could be more comfortable on longer trips.By Karan KumbahrkarPosted on: Oct 21, 2024 10:43 AM00
- Tata Altroz A Stylish Safe and Fuel Efficient Hatchback with a Few Trade offs4.0XE iCNG(Petrol+CNG)PerformanceMileageComfortCost of OwnershipValue for MoneySafetyStylingSales SupportThe Tata Altroz stands out as one of the safest and most stylish hatchbacks in its segment. With its sleek exterior design and premium-looking interior, it feels more expensive than it is. The safety features, including multiple airbags and a 5-star safety rating, provide great peace of mind. The engine performance is smooth, particularly in the manual version, and the car delivers excellent fuel efficiency, making it ideal for both city and highway use. The boot space is ample for a hatchback, and the suspension offers a comfortable ride on most roads. However, the automatic variant is not available in all trims, and some might find the engine a bit underpowered for spirited driving. Pros: Stylish design, Excellent safety features, Good fuel efficiency, Spacious boot Cons: Automatic not available in all trims, Slightly underpowered engine for some driversBy Pragnesh PatelPosted on: Sep 20, 2024 12:05 PM10
