The new Tiago is offered in six trim levels – XE, XT, XZ, XZ+, XZA and XZA+. The Tata Tiago rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Maruti Suzuki WagonR and Hyundai Santro.
Visually, the new Tata Tiago facelift is loaded with a new sporty exterior design featuring a boldly sculpted hood Design, sleek Tri arrow designed piano black front grille & stylish dual-tone bumpers giving a new look to the front fascia. It also gets angular headlamps, chrome garnished fog lamps, 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, piano black ORVMs, rear spoiler, boomerang-shaped taillights, and more. Moreover, the contrast black roof gives a modern appeal further adding to the sporty design of the car.

Tata Tiago Expert Review
The Tata Tiago was certainly a runaway success for the home-grown carmaker, and one of the main reasons for that is, the company finally brought in a car that did not look like the Indica. The Tiago was smart-looking, offered modern creature comforts, came with capable engines, and most important thing was that it was priced aggressively. In early 2020, the company finally introduced a mid-life facelift for the small hatchback kicking things a notch higher, especially in the safety department, as the car received a 4-star safety rating from Global NCAP.
The Tata Tiago continues with its humanity line design, and while most of the design elements remain similar to the pre-facelift model, the styling has become sportier. The updated Tiago gets a black grille, sculpted bumper, with large an air intake, along with revised headlamps and chrome-bezeled foglamps. The Tiago also comes with a set of sporty dual-tone alloy wheels and blacked out ORVMs. At the rear, the hatchback gets a new bumper and the centrally located Tiago logo that gives it an upmarket look.
The cabin is well-appointed. Fit and finish and quality of materials are much improved, and the all-black look is still in place. The dash is two-tone and uses black and grey - though black is the predominant, which looks sporty I have to say, along with the black upholstery with some contrast white stitching and pattern. The car also gets a flat-bottom steering wheel with controls for audio and telephony, while the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system from Harman offers both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Tiago also comes with an 8-speaker sound system, electrically operable ORVMs, a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, height-adjustable driver seat and much more.
The Tata Tiago is a petrol-only car now and it comes with the company's tried and tested 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine. The engine is tuned to make 85 bhp and develops 113 Nm of peak torque and overall, it feels quite peppy, but being a three-pot engine, it does lack a bit of refinement. The 5-speed manual gearbox is good and gets the job done really well, however, if you are looking for convenience, then the Tata also offers an AMT version, but it's not as engaging as the manual version. It's quite manoeuvrable, and the handling is also quite good. The flat-bottom steering wheel offers good grip, but it's a bit too light for our liking.
Now, as mentioned before, the Tata Tiago is one of the safest offerings in this segment. The company offers dual airbags, ABS with EBS, corner stability control, high-speed alert, front seatbelt reminders, rear parking sensors and seatbelt with pretensioners and load limiters are standard. Additionally, the Tata Tiago also comes with rear parking camera, follow me home headlamps, rear defogger, and keyless entry as well.
The Tata Tiago offers four key variants XE, XT, XZ and XZ+, which based on engine, transmission and dual-tone options go up to 8 trim options. All these are priced between Rs. 4.85 lakh and Rs. 6.84 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). At this price, the Tiago's base trim is Rs. 25,000 more expensive than the Maruti Suzuki WagonR and is almost at par with the Hyundai Santro.
Pros & Cons of Tiago
Has 4-Star Safety Rating from Global NCAP
Comes with several standard features
Is priced quite aggressively
Only has a petrol engine on offer
Plastic quality could be better
Engine could do with a bit more punch
Final Verdict on Tiago
The Tata Tiago ticks all the right boxes when we talk about an entry-level car. In fact, it comes with more standard safety features compared to some of its rivals and that’s a big deal at this price point. Yes, it could do with better performance, but the company is seemingly working on a turbo petrol version. But otherwise, the Tata Tiago is a perfectly good car if you a looking for a daily driver that has all kinds of usable features.
