Scooters continue to remain top sellers for Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) bringing in the chunk of volumes. While it is the Activa leading the sales charts always, the Dio isn't too bad either on the sales front. In fact, the Honda Dio 110 cc scooter has crossed the 30 lakh sales milestone, adding a new feather to its hat. Honda says the first 15 lakh sales took 14 years to achieve, but the latest 15 lakh sales were registered in just three years. That's five times faster than the earlier pace, which has helped the Dio grow into India's fourth largest selling scooter. The milestone also comes at a time when the domestic auto industry is undergoing a lull phase over the past few months.
Honda 2Wheeler India is one of the fastest growing manufacturers in the country and the company has achieved a new milestone with its exports crossing the two million mark. Honda's massive growth in exports emerges from the popularity of scooters with the Dio being the most exported scooter from India. The Navi moto-scooter too is gaining popularity in the international market, the company said in a statement. The Japanese two-wheeler giant commenced exports from India in its debut year of 2001 with the Activa scooter and now ships a range of motorcycles and scooters from the domestic facilities.
HMSI has launched the 2017 Honda Dio with a BS IV compliant engine and auto-headlamp on at a price of Rs. 49,132 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new Dio now gets new body graphics, dual-tone colour scheme, re-styled instrumentation console apart from other updates.
