car&bike Expert Take
“The Hyundai Venue N Line is for those who want a sportier take on a compact SUV. It feels more stable and confident through corners, with a sharper driving character, but the firmer suspension isn’t ideal for rough roads. The automatic works well, though the limited gearbox choice may not suit everyone.”

Introduced as the sportier version of the standard Venue, the Hyundai Venue N Line builds on the same compact SUV formula with a stronger focus on design and driving feel. In its latest generation, Hyundai has taken the N Line package more seriously, adding distinct elements for styling, a more engaging interior, and subtle mechanical changes to make it feel different from the regular model.
We evaluated the Venue N Line in both city and highway conditions and found that it positions itself as a more engaging urban SUV rather than a full performance-focused car. At the same time, it continues to retain the practicality, features, and ease of use that buyers expect from a compact SUV in this segment.
This review brings together inputs from the car&bike team. Auto journalist Pratik Prasoon Rakshit shared his insights on the driving experience, braking performance, and overall value of the Venue N Line in our detailed YouTube video. His observations have been included across this article to give a clearer understanding of what this sportier version of the Venue offers.
The Hyundai Venue N Line focuses on providing a sportier driving experience rather than outright performance. It uses the same turbo-petrol engine as the standard model, but it also adds sharper handling through suspension and changes in tuning.

Engine Options Tested
The following table lists the engine setup available in the Venue N Line:
| Engine | Power | Torque | Transmission Options |
| 1.0-Litre Turbo-Petrol | 118.41 bhp | 172 Nm | Six-speed manual / Seven-speed DCT |
Driving Experience: Real World
City Driving
In the city, we found that the Venue N Line is easy to drive. The steering is light, which makes parking and U-turns much simpler, and the high seating position that it offers improves visibility during driving. Although there is some initial lag, the engine feels peppy once the car starts moving, which makes it easy to manage in traffic. Gear shifts during driving feel quick and responsive, especially with the automatic variant.
Highway Driving
The Venue N Line feels stable and confident on the highway. We found that it maintains speed easily, and it handles overtakes at 80–100 kmph effortlessly. The stiffer suspension helps the car stay more stable at high speeds, and this, in turn, makes the car feel more sure-footed while cornering.
MT vs DCT
The six-speed manual is smooth and easy to use. However, we found the seven-speed DCT to be the better option, thanks to its quick shifts and added convenience in daily driving.
As Pratik puts it,
“The suspension setup makes the car feel more controlled, more planted, and stable. Even at higher speeds.”
The Hyundai Venue N Line builds on the standard Venue’s boxy shape but adds sportier elements to give it a more distinct identity. While the overall silhouette remains familiar, the detailing makes it feel more expressive and aggressive.

Here’s a summary of the car’s most noticeable elements:
- The upright stance with vertical elements gives it a bold road presence.
- It gets a connected lighting setup with fang-like DRLs and full-LED headlamps.
- Sporty touches include red accents, red brake callipers, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
- Dual chrome exhaust tips, N Line badging, and a larger roof spoiler enhance the rear look.
- Compared to the standard Venue, it feels sharper and more purpose-built for a sporty appeal.
| Dimension | Hyundai Venue N Line | Hyundai Creta | Tata Nexon |
| Length | 3,995 mm | 4,330 mm | 3,995 mm |
| Width | 1,800 mm | 1,790 mm | 1,804 mm |
| Height | 1,665 mm | 1,635 mm | 1,620 mm |
| Wheelbase | 2,520 mm | 2,610 mm | 2,498 mm |
| Ground Clearance | 195 mm | 190 mm | 208 mm |
| Curb Weight | 1,154 - 1,200 kg | 1,210 - 1,410 kg | 1,230 - 1,360 kg |
The Creta is clearly the largest here, especially in length and wheelbase. The Nexon offers the highest ground clearance, while the Venue N Line is the lightest and most compact of the three, which suits its city-friendly nature.

The Venue N Line builds on the standard Venue’s design with sharper, sportier elements that make it stand out more. We found that these updates give it a more distinct and youthful character.
As Pratik Prasoon Rakshit notes,
“The cosmetic updates really enhance the sporty appeal of the car.”
Front Profile
The front stays upright and boxy, now with a connected lighting setup. Fang-like LED DRLs sit at the top, while the headlamps are placed lower on the bumper. The unique grille and subtle red accents add to the sporty look.
Side Profile
The side gets 17-inch alloy wheels, red pinstriping, and body-coloured cladding. A strong shoulder line and roof rails complete the clean, well-balanced stance.
Rear Profile
The rear features a connected LED light bar that adds width. N Line badging, a roof spoiler, and dual chrome exhaust tips together give it a sportier finish.

‘Sporty’ is the first word that came to our minds when we stepped inside the Hyundai Venue N Line. The black and red cabin theme, along with ambient lighting, gives it a distinct identity over the standard model. Hyundai has also worked on packaging, which definitely makes the cabin feel more open than before.
Cabin Layout and Quality
The dashboard features dual 12.3-inch screens (from the larger Creta/Alcazar) in a clean layout, while climate controls are placed just below for easy access. We found the fit and finish to be solid, with well-used textures across the cabin, though most materials remain hard plastics.

Seating Comfort
First Row
The front seats are comfortable and supportive for long drives. The driver gets a four-way powered seat along with height adjustment, and the high seating position offers a clear view of the road ahead. We found the seats wide enough to accommodate passengers comfortably, with good support for the back and shoulders.
Second Row
Space at the rear has improved, thanks to the longer wheelbase and slimmer front seats. We found the kneeroom and headroom to be sufficient even for taller passengers. The seats also get a recline function, which adds to comfort on longer journeys. However, seating three adults for extended trips can still feel tight.
Hyundai has given the Venue N Line a slightly premium positioning over the standard model. The N6 variant keeps the starting price reasonable, while the top-spec N10 DCT reflects its added features like ADAS and a 360° camera.
We found the top variant’s pricing to be justified for what it offers, though the jump in lower variants feels higher than expected. Dual-tone options also cost a bit more than standard colours.
Ex-Showroom Prices of Hyundai Venue N Line in India
| Variant | Powertrain | Ex-Showroom Price (Approx.) |
| N6 | 1.0-litre Turbo Petrol MT | Rs. 10.65 Lakh |
| N6 Dual Tone | 1.0-litre Turbo Petrol MT | Rs. 10.83 Lakh |
| N6 DCT | 1.0-litre Turbo Petrol AT | Rs. 11.55 Lakh |
| N6 DCT Dual Tone | 1.0-litre Turbo Petrol AT | Rs. 11.73 Lakh |
| N10 DCT | 1.0-litre Turbo Petrol AT | Rs. 15.40 Lakh |
| N10 DCT Dual Tone | 1.0-litre Turbo Petrol AT | Rs. 15.58 Lakh |
Buyers in the compact SUV space expect a balance between performance and efficiency. The Venue N Line focuses more on driving feel, but still manages reasonable fuel efficiency for daily use.
Here’s what we found out in our tests:
- Fuel efficiency drops noticeably in heavy city traffic.
- Highway drives return better and more consistent efficiency.
- The seven-speed DCT helps keep fuel usage in check with smooth shifts.
The following table outlines our observed mileage compared to the claimed figures.
Observed Fuel Efficiency During Testing
Engine & Transmission | Claimed Mileage | Real-World City Mileage | Real-World Highway Mileage |
1.0-Litre Petrol MT | 18.74 kmpl | 8-12 kmpl | 14-16 kmpl |
1.0-Litre Petrol DCT | 20 kmpl | 8-12 kmpl | 14-16 kmpl |
The Hyundai Venue N Line comes with a strong set of safety features.
Passive Safety and Crash Protection
It gets six airbags as standard, along with three-point seatbelts for all passengers and ISOFIX child seat mounts. We found during our evaluation that the overall setup is reassuring for everyday use. The Venue N Line also holds a five-star Bharat NCAP safety rating.
Active Safety and Stability Systems
Features include ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control, and Hill Assist, along with all-wheel disc brakes. Braking performance feels improved with a good bite, though there is a slight spongy feel.
Higher variants add Level 2 ADAS with features like forward collision warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and autonomous emergency braking. A rear radar enables blind spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert, while a 360-degree camera with parking sensors helps in tight spaces.
Safety Verdict
We found the Venue N Line to be a strong all-rounder when it comes to safety. With a five-star Bharat NCAP rating, six airbags as standard, and the addition of Level 2 ADAS, it covers both basic and advanced safety needs well.

The Hyundai Venue N Line builds on the standard Venue’s feature list, while adding sportier elements and a few exclusive touches.
Infotainment and Interface
- The dashboard gets twin 12.3-inch screens, with one that's the driver’s display and the other one for the infotainment system.
- Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay work well in daily use.
- The Bose audio system delivers good sound quality.
- The driver display shows essential data and a blind-view monitor feed.

Cabin Convenience and Practical Tech
- The front seats are ventilated, which is useful in warm conditions.
- The driver’s seat gets four-way powered adjustment.
- Drive and traction mode buttons are placed on the steering wheel for easier access.
- Climate control, sunroof, wireless charging, and multiple Type-C ports add to everyday usability.
- The 360-degree camera and blind spot monitor make parking and lane changes easier.

The Hyundai Venue N Line offers a practical boot for daily needs.
- It has a claimed 375-litre capacity, which is enough for a few suitcases and small bags.
- The shape of the boot makes it easy to load and organise luggage.
- The 60:40 split rear seats add flexibility, and folding them increases usable space with a flat loading area.
As we have stated already, the Venue N Line leans more towards a sporty driving feel than outright comfort. The stiffer suspension improves control and stability, but you will feel sharper bumps inside the cabin.
City Driving
In the city, the engine feels peppy once you get used to the slight initial lag. We found that it remains easier to drive in traffic, with light steering that makes manoeuvres much simpler. However, over rough roads, the firm suspension is much more noticeable.
Highway Driving
At higher speeds, the Venue N Line feels stable and confident. It holds its line well, and overtakes are quick, especially with the DCT. The steering gains weight, adding confidence, though there could be some body movement still present.

Hyundai offers the Venue N Line in multiple variants, based on transmission and cosmetic choices. We evaluated the lineup and found that while features are grouped under two main trims, these variants give buyers flexibility in styling and gearbox options.
- N6: Available in manual and DCT, with optional dual-tone styling.
- N10: Offered only with the DCT, along with a dual-tone option.
Take a look at what the Hyundai Venue N Line’s variants have on offer:
| Variant | Engine & Transmission | Key Additions | Best Suited For |
| N6 | 1.0-litre Turbo Petrol MT | LED lighting, 17-inch alloys, cruise control, rear AC vents, 10.25-inch touchscreen, six airbags | Budget-conscious buyers wanting sporty design |
| N6 Dual Tone | 1.0-litre Turbo Petrol MT | Same as N6 with dual-tone exterior styling | Buyers who want added visual flair |

The Essentials That You Don't Get

- No manual gearbox in the top-spec variants
- No softer suspension setup for rough-road comfort
Which Hyundai Venue N Line Do We Recommend?
Choosing the right Venue N Line depends on whether you want a manual or automatic, and how many features you need.
Best for Daily Driving: N6 DCT
For city use, the N6 DCT is the easiest one to live with. We found that the automatic is smooth and it is convenient to drive daily, while still covering all the essentials.
Best for Enthusiasts: N10 DCT
If you want the full N Line experience, then go for the N10 DCT. We found that with its added features, it feels a lot more stable and engaging when it is being driven at higher speeds.
Best Value Overall: N6 Manual
On a tighter budget, the N6 manual is the most accessible option. It keeps the same engine and sporty design while lowering the entry price.
The subcompact SUV segment is competitive, and the Hyundai Venue N Line takes a sportier approach than most rivals. We found that the other cars in this segment focus on comfort or variety, but the N Line stands out for the sportier driving feel that it offers.
The Tata Nexon is a key rival with multiple fuel options and a comfortable ride. The Hyundai Creta offers more space and engine choices, but it falls within a slightly higher price bracket.

| Model | Engine Options | Mileage (ARAI) | Key Value Proposition | Ex-Showroom Price Range |
| Hyundai Venue N Line | 1.0-Litre Turbo Petrol | 18.74–20 kmpl | Sporty design, sharp handling | Rs. 10.65 – Rs. 15.58 Lakh |
| Tata Nexon | 1.2-Litre Petrol / 1.5L Diesel / CNG | 17.01–24.08 kmpl | Comfortable ride, fuel options | Rs. 7.32 – Rs. 14.15 Lakh |
| Hyundai Creta | 1.5-Litre Petrol / Diesel / Turbo Petrol | 17.4–21.8 kmpl | More space, wider choices | Rs. 10.79 – Rs. 20.20 Lakh |
Which SUV Should You Pick?
- Choose the Hyundai Venue N Line if you want a driving experience that is on the sportier side and if you prefer sharper handling.
- Choose the Tata Nexon if you want a more comfortable ride and multiple fuel options.
- Choose the Hyundai Creta if you need more space and a more family-focused package.
Pros
- Sportier suspension improves handling and stability
- Feature-rich cabin with dual displays, Bose audio and ADAS
- Engine and Gearbox work very well together
- Sporty design elements make it stand out
Cons
- Firm suspension is not ideal for rough roads
- No diesel engine option available
- Fuel efficiency is low in heavy city traffic
- No manual gearbox in higher variants
Verdict
The Hyundai Venue N Line builds on the standard Venue that exudes a sportier design and provides a sharper driving experience. We evaluated it across city and highway conditions and found that the stiffer suspension it offers, along with the steering weight, improves confidence while driving, especially at higher speeds and through tight corners.
The turbo-petrol engine remains versatile for daily use along with the DCT gearbox that makes driving feel much more quick and responsive. The cabin comes with features like dual displays, ventilated seats and ADAS, which makes it practical for both everyday driving as well as longer trips.
There are some compromises. The firm ride can feel uncomfortable on bad roads, and the absence of a diesel option limits choice. Fuel efficiency in traffic is also on the lower side. Overall, it stands out as one of the sportiest SUVs in its segment while still being usable for family needs.
As Pratik concludes,
“It’s one of the sportiest SUVs in its segment, and the one worth considering as a family car that offers both a sporty driving experience and functionality of a family car”
