car&bike Expert Take
“The Hyundai Venue N Line is for those who want a sportier take on a compact SUV. It feels more stable and confident through corners, with a sharper driving character, but the firmer suspension isn’t ideal for rough roads. The automatic works well, though the limited gearbox choice may not suit everyone.”

Introduced as the sportier version of the standard Venue, the Hyundai Venue N Line builds on the same compact SUV formula with a stronger focus on design and driving feel. In its latest generation, Hyundai has taken the N Line package more seriously, adding distinct elements for styling, a more engaging interior, and subtle mechanical changes to make it feel different from the regular model.
We evaluated the Venue N Line in both city and highway conditions and found that it positions itself as a more engaging urban SUV rather than a full performance-focused car. At the same time, it continues to retain the practicality, features, and ease of use that buyers expect from a compact SUV in this segment.
This review brings together inputs from the car&bike team. Auto journalist Pratik Prasoon Rakshit shared his insights on the driving experience, braking performance, and overall value of the Venue N Line in our detailed YouTube video. His observations have been included across this article to give a clearer understanding of what this sportier version of the Venue offers.
The Hyundai Venue N Line focuses on providing a sportier driving experience rather than outright performance. It uses the same turbo-petrol engine as the standard model, but it also adds sharper handling through suspension and changes in tuning.

Engine Options Tested
The following table lists the engine setup available in the Venue N Line:
| Engine | Power | Torque | Transmission Options |
| 1.0-Litre Turbo-Petrol | 118.41 bhp | 172 Nm | Six-speed manual / Seven-speed DCT |
Driving Experience: Real World
City Driving
In the city, we found that the Venue N Line is easy to drive. The steering is light, which makes parking and U-turns much simpler, and the high seating position that it offers improves visibility during driving. Although there is some initial lag, the engine feels peppy once the car starts moving, which makes it easy to manage in traffic. Gear shifts during driving feel quick and responsive, especially with the automatic variant.
Highway Driving
The Venue N Line feels stable and confident on the highway. We found that it maintains speed easily, and it handles overtakes at 80–100 kmph effortlessly. The stiffer suspension helps the car stay more stable at high speeds, and this, in turn, makes the car feel more sure-footed while cornering.
MT vs DCT
The six-speed manual is smooth and easy to use. However, we found the seven-speed DCT to be the better option, thanks to its quick shifts and added convenience in daily driving.
As Pratik puts it,
“The suspension setup makes the car feel more controlled, more planted, and stable. Even at higher speeds.”
The Hyundai Venue N Line builds on the standard Venue’s boxy shape but adds sportier elements to give it a more distinct identity. While the overall silhouette remains familiar, the detailing makes it feel more expressive and aggressive.

Here’s a summary of the car’s most noticeable elements:
- The upright stance with vertical elements gives it a bold road presence.
- It gets a connected lighting setup with fang-like DRLs and full-LED headlamps.
- Sporty touches include red accents, red brake callipers, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
- Dual chrome exhaust tips, N Line badging, and a larger roof spoiler enhance the rear look.
- Compared to the standard Venue, it feels sharper and more purpose-built for a sporty appeal.
| Dimension | Hyundai Venue N Line | Hyundai Creta | Tata Nexon |
| Length | 3,995 mm | 4,330 mm | 3,995 mm |
| Width | 1,800 mm | 1,790 mm | 1,804 mm |
| Height | 1,665 mm | 1,635 mm | 1,620 mm |
| Wheelbase | 2,520 mm | 2,610 mm | 2,498 mm |
| Ground Clearance | 195 mm | 190 mm | 208 mm |
| Curb Weight | 1,154 - 1,200 kg | 1,210 - 1,410 kg | 1,230 - 1,360 kg |
The Creta is clearly the largest here, especially in length and wheelbase. The Nexon offers the highest ground clearance, while the Venue N Line is the lightest and most compact of the three, which suits its city-friendly nature.

Pros
- Sportier suspension improves handling and stability
- Feature-rich cabin with dual displays, Bose audio and ADAS
- Engine and Gearbox work very well together
- Sporty design elements make it stand out
Cons
- Firm suspension is not ideal for rough roads
- No diesel engine option available
- Fuel efficiency is low in heavy city traffic
- No manual gearbox in higher variants
Verdict
The Hyundai Venue N Line builds on the standard Venue that exudes a sportier design and provides a sharper driving experience. We evaluated it across city and highway conditions and found that the stiffer suspension it offers, along with the steering weight, improves confidence while driving, especially at higher speeds and through tight corners.
The turbo-petrol engine remains versatile for daily use along with the DCT gearbox that makes driving feel much more quick and responsive. The cabin comes with features like dual displays, ventilated seats and ADAS, which makes it practical for both everyday driving as well as longer trips.
There are some compromises. The firm ride can feel uncomfortable on bad roads, and the absence of a diesel option limits choice. Fuel efficiency in traffic is also on the lower side. Overall, it stands out as one of the sportiest SUVs in its segment while still being usable for family needs.
As Pratik concludes,
“It’s one of the sportiest SUVs in its segment, and the one worth considering as a family car that offers both a sporty driving experience and functionality of a family car”
