Ola Electric S1 Pro Expert Review
Ola S1 Pro
The Ola S1 Pro is one of the most buzzing electric scooters currently in the market. The company has also unveiled the MoveOS 2 upgrade which has several additional features.
How is the Design?
The Ola S1 Pro comes in ten colour options while the front apron is quite like the Vespa. It has clean and flowing lines while keeping the scooter compact and slim. The front comes with a single-suspension template which hooks directly into the alloy wheel and there is a spine extending through the floorboard as well. This makes it hard to put things on the same. There is a hook-up top along with a smiley-themed LED DRL and two projector headlights as well. The frame is comparatively a little compact while the design is flowing and comfortable. The rubber buttons for the switchgear are a nice touch.
How does it Perform?
The Ola S1 Pro comes with a fun and sporty riding experience and there are four modes, namely Sports, Eco, Hyper, and Normal. The scooter can start in the Normal mode and modes may also be toggled while riding. The Normal option is ideal for riding in the city while you can tweak the style till 10 kmph and after this the experience becomes smoother. The Sports mode is another helpful option for balancing range and power alike. The Hyper mode is exciting and you can get to 80-85 kmph without trying excessively hard as well. The Eco mode reduces overall performance for saving power as much as possible. It comes into play from 15% and cannot be disabled.
What’s the Range?
The range is 169 km and 136 km in the Eco and Normal modes. It is also 120 km and 96 km in the Sports and Hyper modes.
How is the riding Experience?
The Ola S1 Pro offers a couple of disc brakes while ABS is skipped as well. The scooter performs well, offering steady control across speeds. Overall ride and handling are quite decent for the scooter.
Tech and features
The Ola S1 Pro comes with several technology-based features including a 7-inch display unit along with music playback and navigation, keyless locking and a lot more. The scooter may be used without pairing the same with a phone while skipping features such as unlocking or locking, music playback, using the phone, and opening the trunk via the Ola Electric app. The scooter comes with MoveOS 2 and multiple features are also unlocked. The user interface is easily navigable and the home screen displays Bluetooth connectivity, parking indicator, range, and time. The navigation screen is present along with a music screen and the status of the battery.
There are cruise and reverse modes for the Ola S1 Pro. The latter has to be activated before reverse acceleration with the speed limited to 4 kmph and it helps in pulling out from tighter parking spots. The former helps in maintaining speed after engaging the same. It is a better option on the highways as well.
Battery Capacity and Electric Motors
The Ola S1 Pro comes with a 3.97 kWh battery and can ensure a range of 169 km in the Eco mode along with a range of 136 km in the Normal mode. It also ensures a range of 120 km in the Sports mode along with a range of 96 km in the Hyper mode. There is a 750W charger which may be used with a 5 amp socket as well. This may require 6.5 hours to reach 100% while charging till 15% in an hour or so. The Ola S1 Pro also gets the 8500 W Mid-Drive IPM Motor for a smoother experience.
Safety Equipment
The scooter gets safety features like the Combined Braking System (CBS).
What’s the warranty on battery?
The Ola S1 Pro comes with a three-year and unlimited kilometer warranty.
Which two-wheelers compete in the segment?
The Ola S1 Pro takes on the likes of the TVS iQube and the Ather 450X in its category. It also competes with the Bajaj Chetak in the segment.
Verdict (Is it value for money)
The Ola S1 Pro helps with city commutes and is a handy purchase at its price point. It comes with good features and performs well on the road. It also looks smart and comes with several features alongside. There are a few minor issues including the floorboard spine and also the length of the seat. However, the Ola S1 Pro is a value pick in the EV segment.
