Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6

This motorcycle is incredibly narrow when you look at it from the front or back.

Lighting & Front Identity

• The front uses a classic round LED headlamp for modern lighting while keeping a retro look.
• The standout feature is the girder front fork with twin shocks. It completely replaces standard telescopic forks and gives the nose an exposed, mechanical vibe.
• The front mudguard is very small, leaving the large 19-inch front wheel completely visible.

Side Profile & Rear Section

• The side profile highlights the magnesium battery casing.
• It has deep cooling fins that look a lot like a traditional air-cooled engine block.
• The seat floats above the rear wheel and attaches to a very short frame.
• Because there is no exhaust pipe, the rear belt drive and the cast swingarm are completely exposed.
• The rear mudguard holds the LED taillight, the turn indicators, and the number plate.

Practical Integration

• You do not get a physical key. You turn the bike on by entering a PIN code on the round 3.5-inch TFT touchscreen display.
• The space where a petrol tank usually goes now holds a Qi wireless charging pad, keeping your phone secure and charged while you ride.
• The motorcycle also has an onboard charger as well. You just use a standard cable to plug into a normal wall socket.

The price of this motorcycle is spread out in two ways: you can pull its ex-showroom value down by about Rs. 80,000 if you go for the BaaS option. Under the BaaS model, you do not own the battery; instead, you pay a monthly subscription fee based on your usage.

The Flying Flea C6 uses a very small, lightweight battery pack to keep the overall weight of the bike down, which means it is strictly a short-distance commuter.  The battery is covered under three years of warranty, and it takes around two hours and 16 minutes to recharge up to 100 per cent. Charging is very convenient thanks to the 2.2 kW onboard charger. 

Despite the retro styling, Royal Enfield also packed the C6 with high-end electronics.

Instrumentation & Connectivity

• You get a fully circular 3.5-inch TFT touchscreen display that acts as the brain of the motorcycle.
• It runs on Royal Enfield's custom 'Fleaware OS'. The screen is sharp and highly responsive, even when wearing riding gloves.
• By connecting your smartphone via Bluetooth, you unlock full turn-by-turn navigation powered by Google Maps directly on the screen.
• The motorcycle also connects to a dedicated mobile app, allowing you to check your battery percentage remotely, track the live GPS location of the bike, and receive Over-The-Air (OTA) software updates.

Practical Technology & Safety Integration

• Royal Enfield included a six-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), which enables lean-sensitive ABS and lean-sensitive traction control.
• It means the bike knows exactly how far you are leaning into a corner and adjusts the braking pressure and motor torque to prevent the wheels from slipping out from under you.
• You can completely switch off the rear ABS if you want to slide the back wheel around.
• For daily practicality, the fake fuel tank area pops open to reveal a storage cubby specifically designed to hold your smartphone securely while charging it on a built-in wireless Qi pad.
• The bike also features cruise control and multiple customisable riding modes to suit different weather conditions.

Because it weighs only 124 kg and sits on a forged aluminium frame, the C6 handles entirely differently from traditional, heavy Royal Enfield motorcycles.

City Handling

• It’s an incredibly nimble machine meant mostly for city commutes.
• You can weave through traffic and tight gaps with the same ease as a 125cc petrol commuter.
• The 823 mm seat height sounds tall on paper, but riders of average height can easily plant both feet flat on the ground.
• The unique roll-forward regenerative braking function also allows you to ride comfortably with just your right hand.

Highway Stability

• Highway riding exposes some physical limitations of this lightweight, naked electric bike.
• Without a windscreen, wind blast hits you directly in the chest once you cross 80 kmph.
• The small 3.91 kWh battery forces you to watch your range carefully.
• But the 19-inch wheels provide good straight-line stability, and the chassis does not wobble or feel nervous at high speeds.

Suspension Behaviour

• Instead of traditional telescopic tubes, the girder setup uses metal linkages and twin shocks.
• It looks incredibly mechanical and soaks up bad city potholes very smoothly.
• The rear uses a direct-acting monoshock that is tuned slightly on the firmer side.
• It handles broken roads well, but if you hit a deep rut at high speeds, you will feel it.

The review points out one thing,

“Overall ride quality could have been better, though; the firm suspension and a hard seat will not offer a comfortable perch for long hours on the saddle.”

Since there is only one technical variant of the motorcycle, your buying decision comes down to how you prefer to pay for the battery. If you do not want to spend Rs. 2.79 lakh in one go, choose the Battery-as-a-Service model. Paying Rs. 1.99 lakh upfront makes the motorcycle highly accessible. The monthly subscription fee covers battery health, giving you absolute peace of mind if the battery degrades after three or four years.

But if you hate paying monthly subscription fees and prefer to own the motorcycle entirely, pay the full Rs. 2.79 lakh price. You will not have to worry about monthly usage limits or recurring charges, making it cheaper in the very long run.
