The TVS Radeon entry-level motorcycle completes one year of sales and is the most awarded commuter motorcycle of the year, according to the manufacturer. To celebrate the occasion, TVS Motor Company has introduced the Radeon 'Commuter of the Year' special edition priced from Rs. 52,720 for the drum brake version, and Rs. 54,820 (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi) for the disc brake version. The bike gets two new colour schemes - Chrome-Black and Chrome-Brown - just in time for the festive season.

Polarity Smart Bikes Launch Date Out
Pune-based Polarity Smart Bikes will be introducing its pedal-assisted electric bike range in India on September 20, 2019. The new e-mobility start-up has already teased its line-up of products across two categories - Sport and Executive and includes the S1K, S2K, and the S3K, as well as the E1K, E2K and the E3K in the brand's product portfolio. The e-bikes are aimed to offer intra-city mobility with last mile connectivity, free of emissions. The bikes have been under development since 2017 and will be light in weight.

Maruti Suzuki-Toyota Plan To Set-up Scrappage Plant In India: Report
The Maruti Suzuki-Toyota partnership was confirmed in 2017, which would see the carmakers access either party's pool of vehicles that would be rebadged and sold under their respective brands. It now seems, the automakers are planning to take the partnership a step further and are in the process of setting up a scrappage plant together in India, a recent report claims. Under the partnership, Maruti Suzuki and Toyota Tsusho India will be set-up the scrappage plant in Greater Noida, and will be the second manufacturer-owned facility in the country. The report says that the joint venture will supply, dismantle and process end-of-life vehicles, and market and sell scrap and other products generated from such activities.

F1: Michael Schumacher Shifted To Paris For Stemcell Treatment; Is Conscious Claims Report
Former Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher is reportedly "conscious" after undergoing stem cell treatment in Paris earlier this week. A report from French newspaper Le Parisien claims that the ex-F1 driver was admitted to the state-of-the-art Georges Pompidou Hospital in Paris earlier this week for transfusions of inflammation-reducing stem cells. The report further states that the medical facility - has turned into a bunker - following his arrival at the hospital. The Schumacher family has been extremely private about Michael's condition ever since the skiing accident in December 2013.

Finance Minister's "Ola, Uber" Remark Misinterpreted, Says Nitin Gadkari
Minister of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) Nitin Gadkari said says that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's statement on the slowdown in the auto sector contributed by Ola and Uber was misinterpreted. The Union Minister was speaking earlier today at the launch of the BS6 compliant Honda Activa 125 and said that there were, in fact, many reasons for the slowdown. Earlier this week, Sitharaman said that millennials switching to app-based ride-hailing services from cab aggregators like Ola and Uber was the reason for the downturn in the auto industry. The statement was met with a lot of criticism on social media.

Adding electric buses to its intra-city fleet, the Brihan Mumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) deployed 10 9-Meter electric buses in Mumbai. The new eBuzz K7 electric buses have been sourced from Olectra-BYD, as part of its 40 AC & non-AC bus order on Gross Cost Contract basis. The new e-buses join the fleet after the successful deployment of the six eBuzz K7 buses that were added to the fleet in November 2017 by BEST.

Last week, Tesla co-founder Elon Musk tweeted that he will be bringing over the Tesla Model S to the holy grail of motorsport - The Nurburgring circuit in Germany. It was thought of as a challenge to the recently unveiled Porsche Taycan Turbo, the iconic German automaker's first-ever fully electric sports car. Ashok Leyland To Observe Non-Working Days In September Following Weak Demand
India's second-largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, Ashok Leyland has announced that the company will be observing non-working at its five plants in September. In a regulatory filing, the Hinduja Group company stated that the Ennore plant will have 16 non-working days, Hosur 1, 2 and CPPS will have five non-working days; while the Alwar and Bhandara facilities will have 10 non-working days each. The Pantnagar plant will see the longest shutdown with 18 non-working days this month. The manufacturer has cited weak demand for its products as the reason behind the stopping production.

TVS Motor Company crossed a new milestone with its 100 cc motorcycle - TVS Sport - that set a new record of 'Highest Fuel efficiency delivered by a motorcycle on the Golden Quadrilateral.' The commuter motorcycle has entered the India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records for an on-road fuel efficiency of 76.4 kmpl. The feat was achived by rider Pavitra Patro, who completed the Indian Golden Quadrilateral comprising a total of 6377 km over a period of 20 days, while traversing varied terrains and the surging monsoon across the country. The Golden Quadrilateral connects India's four major metros including Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai.

Charles Leclerc bagged his second consecutive win of the season, beating Valtteri Bottas to win the 2019 Italian Grand Prix.
