What's New?

BMW Motorrad will launch its flagship adventure touring motorcycle, the new BMW R 1300 GS in India in the first half of 2024. With the new GS, BMW Motorrad has announced a thorough overhaul of its bestselling adventure bike for 2024. The 1300 in the name also underscores an increase in engine displacement from 1,254 cc to 1,300 cc. The signature horizontally opposed boxer twin engine now makes a claimed 144 bhp and 149 Nm of peak torque, which is a decent step up from 135 bhp and 142 Nm of the outgoing BMW R 1250 GS. With a 237 kg kerb weight, the R 1300 GS is almost 12 kg lighter than the R 1250 GS.

The increased engine displacement results from a larger bore in the engine, up from 102.5 mm to 106.5 mm, and a shorter stroke of 73 mm. According to BMW Motorrad, there’s a significant increase in torque throughout the rev range, with 130 Nm of torque available between 3,600 and 7,800 rpm. The engine is said to be smoother than before with repositioning within the frame aimed at reducing vibrations. It continues to feature the BMW ShiftCam system, which adjusts valve timing and stroke on the intake side for improved performance. However, the camshaft drive arrangement has been updated for enhanced functionality. Additionally, a new 2-into-1 stainless steel exhaust has been introduced, designed to be lighter and optimized to complement the ShiftCam system.

The BMW R 1300 GS comes with four standard ride modes: Road, Rain, Eco, and Enduro. Opting for the Riding Modes Pro package adds Dynamic, Dynamic Pro, and Enduro Pro modes, all of which are customizable. Riders have the option to personalize their preferred ride modes. Additionally, standard features include Engine Drag Torque Control (MSR), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Dynamic Brake Assist (DBC), and Hill Start Control (HSC), enhancing safety and performance across various riding conditions.
