Post its resurrection in India, Renault came up with premium models unlike other car makers that eye conquering volume segments. The premium SUV Koleos was one of the first models from Renault to join its product portfolio for domestic market. Despite being a good product the SUV goes unnoticed amid potent rivals that have proven their credibility time and again. The SUV is propelled by the new generation 2.0 litre, dCi diesel powertrain offering power in two states of tune. Transmission choice includes a manual unit available on 2WD and 4WD variants, whereas the auto box is offered only on the 4WD variant. 

Renault Koleos Exterior 

Unlike other SUVs in the D segment, Koleos has a relatively small semblance. In front are petal shaped headlamps flanking chrome finished radiator grille. The large bumper features fog lamps, air-dams and silver skid plate. Side profile has a rising beltline that starts from A pillar and runs up to the tail lamps. Rear is attractive featuring wrap around tail lamps, integrated spoiler on the top, large bumper and a silver skid plate. 

Renault Koleos Interior 

The dashboard design is pretty basic and the centre console is a tad cluttered with most of the dials, buttons etc placed on the lower side. Space is ample for driver and co-passenger in front, even the rear seat offers comfortable room. 

Renault Koleos Engine Specifications & Transmission

Under the hood is a 2.0 litre, dCi engine producing power in two states of tune-171bhp and 148bhp. The higher output variant offers 360Nm of torque and features a 4WD system, while the 148bhp version features 2WD system and comes mated to a manual transmission unlike the 4WD variant which also gets an option for an automatic gearbox.

Features like smart access card, engine start/stop, dusk sensor, rain sensor, rear parking sensor, cruise control, 12V power outlets and on-board trip computer are offered on the SUV. 

Renault Koleos Performance & Mileage

The 2WD manual variant is claimed to return 17.15 km/l as opposed to 16.26km/l delivered by 4WD manual variant and the only automatic trim in the line-up promises a mileage of 14.56km/l. 

Renault Koleos Accessories & Infotainment

The 2WD variant gets Arkamys audio system unlike the 4WD trims that feature Bose audio system. Speakers, subwoofers, amplifier, tweeters, AUX-In, iPod, MP3, radio and Bluetooth are some of the other features available on Koleos.

Safety features aboard include electronic stability program, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, anti-lock-braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, driver & passenger airbags, front-side airbags, front & rear curtain airbags, child safety rear lock, speed-sensing door lock, automatic emergency unlock and front powered anti-pinch function.

The premium SUV is loaded with comfort features such as -6-way adjustable driver’s seat, 4-way adjustable passenger seat, dual zone AC, rear AC vents, tilt & telescopic steering wheel, rear seat one-touch drive down (60:40), rear glass electri defrosting, smart storage, soft touch driver controls, under floor cubby, seat back tables, height adjustable front & rear headrests, driver side one-touch window roll down and driver seat lumbar support among others.
