Bajaj Auto launched the new Bajaj Avenger Street 160 ABS in India on May 10, 2019. The new Avenger Street 160 is the newest entry-level cruiser motorcycle from the Pune-based two-wheeler manufacturer. In India, the bike replaces the previously on sale Bajaj Avenger Street 180. The new Bajaj Avenger Street 160 offers a mix of ‘roadster’ and ‘cruiser’ design languages with street control handlebar, low-slung seat and alloy wheels. Also, the motorcycle comes with a single-channel Anti- Locking Braking System (ABS) as standard.
The new Bajaj Avenger Street 160 borrows the styling cues from the bigger Avenger Street models (180 and 220) boasting of the roadster headlamp with LED daytime running lights, blackened engine, and relaxed riding posture. There are new graphics and a larger insignia, black alloy wheels and rubberised rear grab rail.
The 2019 Bajaj Avenger Street 160 ABS is powered by a 160.4 cc single-cylinder engine with 14.7 bhp and 13.5 Nm of peak torque. The power output is better than the Avenger 150 and identical to the Avenger 180. The power-to-weight ratio has enhanced significantly to 103.3 PS/Ton from the erstwhile Avenger 150 at 98 PS/Ton. The motor comes paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The bike comes with an upright posture with low slung seat and unique extended footrest position to offer maximum riding comfort, while the 177 mm ground clearance offers for a more comfortable city and highway riding. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks up front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. As for the braking performance, it’s offered by a 220 mm single disc up front equipped with the single-channel ABS unit, while the rear gets a drum brake set-up.
The Avenger Street 160 ABS has been priced in India at Rs. 82,253/- (ex-showroom Delhi) and is offered in two colour options - ‘Ebony Black’ and ‘Spicy Red’. The Avenger Street 160 will primarily compete with the Suzuki Intruder 155 cruiser, which was recently updated for MY2019.
