The design of the BS6 Apache RTR 160 4V is a key highlight, incorporating modern elements while retaining its muscular streetfighter stance. The most significant upgrade in the BS6 model is the full LED headlamp unit with claw-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs). These not only enhance visibility but also add to the motorcycle’s aggressive street presence. The sharp tank extensions and new race-inspired graphics on the fuel tank give the bike a more premium look, while the dual-tone seat adds a touch of class.

While the overall design remains largely unchanged from its predecessor, the new LED lighting system makes a noticeable difference in the bike's aesthetic appeal. The fit and finish of the materials used feel solid and premium, continuing the Apache's tradition of offering a refined and well-built product

The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V BS6 is powered by a 159.7 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, which now produces 15.8 bhp at 8250 rpm and 14.12 Nm of torque at 7250 rpm. This is a slight reduction from the BS4 model’s 16.6 bhp and 14.8 Nm of torque, but the engine's refinement has improved significantly, thanks to the race-tuned fuel injection (RT-Fi) technology. The updated engine delivers smooth power delivery across the rev range, with improved low-end and mid-range torque that makes city riding more engaging.

Acceleration feels more eager, and the engine revs freely to higher limits with less effort than the previous model. The 5-speed gearbox, while not the slickest in the segment, gets the job done, though it could have been a bit more precise. The overall performance is ideal for a 160 cc commuter bike, and despite the minor reduction in power, the bike retains its fun-to-ride character, especially in urban settings.

Handling has always been a strong suit of the Apache series, and the RTR 160 4V is no exception. The bike feels well-planted and nimble, making it an excellent companion for tight city corners as well as highway cruising. The TVS Remora tires offer excellent grip on both dry and wet surfaces, instilling confidence in the rider while leaning into corners or making quick maneuvers in traffic.

The suspension setup—telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear—is slightly on the stiffer side, which enhances stability when cornering at speed but might feel a bit harsh on rough roads. Despite this, the bike handles potholes and uneven surfaces relatively well, offering a comfortable ride quality overall.

The braking system is available in both drum and disc variants, with the top-spec model featuring a 270 mm front petal disc and 200 mm rear disc. The single-channel ABS ensures that the bike stops safely without locking up, though the braking bite could be slightly sharper for more immediate stopping power

Ergonomically, the Apache RTR 160 4V is designed to be comfortable for both short city rides and longer weekend trips. The wide, upright handlebars provide good leverage, and the footpeg position is neutral, making the riding posture comfortable for riders of varying heights. The dual-tone seat is well-padded, though the pillion seat remains small and might not be ideal for long-distance two-up riding.

The instrument cluster remains fully digital and includes all necessary information such as speed, fuel level, trip meters, and gear position indicator. However, the bike still misses out on the SmartXonnect Bluetooth system, which is available on the Apache RTR 200 4V, a feature that would have added more value for tech-savvy riders.
