The Honda HF Deluxe has a drum brake on the front and the rear. A drum brake is a type of brake system that uses a set of shoes that press against the inside of a drum attached to the wheel hub, creating friction that slows the bike down. While drum brakes are not as powerful as disc brakes, they are more than adequate for the HF Deluxe's intended use as a commuter bike.
