What's New?

In the year 2005, Hero Honda launched this scooter, which was targeted towards women riders. The latest model, the BS6 compliant Pleasure+ has a similar appearance to the previous models, but with new colour schemes that are more fashionable. The Integrated Braking System (IBS), which is the same as on the Maestro and Duet, is the most important upgrade. When the left brake lever is pulled in, the combined braking mechanism activates both the front and rear brakes, enabling better braking in both emergency and non-emergency circumstances.

There are other improvements, such as a lockable light in the glove box. A side-stand indication and a combined ignition lock + seat opening mechanism are also included. Then there's the instrument cluster, which includes a mobile charging point. The scooter is driven by a 102 cc single-cylinder engine that generates 6.9 bhp and 8.1 Nm of torque. The TVS Jupiter, , and Honda Dio are all competitors. Its variants are Hero Pleasure self-start drum brake, Hero Pleasure self-start drum brake alloy wheel.

Introduction

Priced between Rs46,100 and Rs48,100, the Hero Pleasure was primarily launched to target mostly women riders. The BS6 compliant latest model, Hero Pleasure is quite similar to its predecessor, but it has added new colour schemes, which appear to be more fashionable. The scooter sports 7 attractive dual-colour options and comes in two petrol variants: Self-Start Drum Brakes and Self-Start Drum Brake Alloy Wheel.

How is the design?

With Hero Pleasure Plus, it is possible to see a second set of modifications. Even though the design of the Hero Pleasure is modified to certain extent, it has not been entirely replaced. The apron and the front fender of the scooter has been updated to integrate a broad-brushed silver section edged by indicators and position lamps. The design of the headlamp appears to be new as well, and it comes with a contemporary outlook. However, no changes have been made in the rest of the body design, to retain the near-retro appearance. The fuel filling cap is positioned in the trunk, rather than in the tail. A brand-new speedometer has been integrated to display trip metre, fuel gauge, speed, and side-stand indication.

How is the performance?

Powered by a 102cc engine, the scooter is able to produce a peak torque of 7.8Nm, and a maximum power of 6.7bhp. There has been a noticeable improvement in the throttle responsiveness, but with Hero Pleasure, the rider does not get what is known as a thrilling experience. With drum brakes at either end and Integrated Braking System, the braking performance of the scooter is quite impressive.

How does the Hero Pleasure ride?

In its segment, the Hero Pleasure is believed to be the lightest scooter, with a kerb weight of 104 Kgs. With a little push, it is expected that the scooter would travel fast in the desired direction of the rider. The handling of the Hero Pleasure is adequate and it is ideal for beginners or for people using this as their first scooter ever. The suspension setup at the front uses the same linked arrangement as the old unit. The swing-arm rear suspension of the scooter is also spring loaded. This means, the scooter has the capacity to absorb small bumps or potholes, and can even iron out small undulations, adding comfort to the riders.

How comfortable is the Hero Pleasure?

Coming to its comfort, the Hero Pleasure is much easier to ride due to the fact that it is a light-weighted scooter, and possibly the lightest in its segment. With a slight push, it is expected that the scooter will travel fast. However, at higher speed, the Hero Pleasure wobbles to certain extent, owing to its agile handling and low weight. Keeping in mind the target market, the Hero Pleasure comes with low seat height at 765mm, and the seats are very well-cushioned, adding comfort to both the riders and pillion. Furthermore, the seat is long enough to accommodate two adult riders comfortably. Apart from the suspension, the riding dynamics and remainder of handling are well-suited for the purpose.

How's the tech?

A host of advanced technological specifications equip the Hero Pleasure for enhanced performance and improved riding quality. Some of these are listed below.

  • The Hero Pleasure is powered by an air-cooling, single-cylinder, double-valve 102.0 cc engine with self-start mechanism. It has the capacity of generating 6.9 bhp of power at 7000 rpm and 8.1 Nm of maximum torque at 5000 rpm.
  • This scooter has a carburettor fuel delivery mechanism.
  • The clutch is dry, centrifugal and automatic.
  • The braking duties are carried by drum brakes on both ends.
  • This scooter rides on tubeless tyres.
  • It has a metre console adding to its stunning looks.
  • There is a boot light on the luggage box.
  • Fuel gauge and pass light are included.

How's the mileage of the Hero Pleasure?

The Hero Pleasure gives you a dynamic mileage of 63 kmpl, thereby making it a fuel-efficient scooter. On highways, however, it can give you a mileage of 69 kmpl.

Is the Hero Pleasure good value for money?

At only Rs 49,700 for the top variant, the Hero Pleasure is an ideal scooter for someone looking forward to commuting in the city traffic more often. This bike is easy to live with and easy to ride and affordable among the common people in India. It also gives a pretty good mileage in the city and has great fuel efficiency. Overall, this bike is a good value for money.

How is the after sales service?

Hero has extremely good after sales services and the service maintenance charges are pretty affordable. It has good connectivity across the country as well. For the pleasure series, Hero grants the first five services for free. The first service must be availed after 60 days of purchase or 500-750 km of ride, the second service must be availed after 160 days of purchase or 3000-3500 km of ride, the third service must be availed after 260 days of purchase or 6000-6500 km of ride, fourth service must be availed after 360 days of purchase or 9000-9500 km of ride, and the fifth service must be availed after 460 days of purchase or 12000-12500 km of ride.

Which scooters compete in this segment?

Some of the other scooters that compete in the same category as the Hero Pleasure are TVS Scooty Pep Plus, TVS Scooty Zest, TVS Jupiter, Hero Activa and Hero Pleasure Plus.

Verdict (Value for money)

The Hero Pleasure is your regular scooter. It promises long-term delivery and sustains harsh ride conditions with ease. For its price, it is a pretty good bike that ensures comfort and good fuel economy. This bike is a commuter that you can ride to your workplace every day. It gives you a hassle-free riding experience and long-term comfort. It also delivers good performance on long hauls. Overall, at its price, this bike is a good value for money. It faces stiff competition from TVS and from its own cousins but it has its own set of advantages and specifications.
