About Land Rover Discovery
Land Rover India has introduced the 2021 Discovery facelift in the country with a host of upgrades over its predecessor. The updated Land Rover Discovery facelift made its global debut in November 2020 and improvements to the model including visual changes, new engine options and more technology on board. It’s gone more premium overall, which makes it a practical yet luxurious choice in this space. Prices for the 2021 Land Rover Discovery start at Rs. 88.06 lakh (ex-showroom), and the model competes against the BMW X5, Volvo XC90, Audi Q7, and the likes in the segment.
Visual upgrades on the 2021 Land Rover Discovery facelift include the restyled grille, new Matrix LED headlamps with LED DRLs and redesigned LED taillights with the signature pattern. The bumpers sport new side air vents that lend a sportier touch with a wider central intake, while the rear bumper has been reworked to reduce the visual bulk on the Discovery facelift. As a result, the model looks more planted to the ground. The SUV also gets a gloss black panel on the tailgate that also incorporates the Discovery badge for a cleaner appearance to the rear profile. The distinctive elements of the Discovery including the clamshell bonnet, stepped roof and C-pillar remain. The 2021 edition also rides on alloy wheels, while customers looking for sportier visual appeal will like the R-Dynamic trim that further accentuates the lines and also bring the dual-tone paint scheme.
The cabin on the 2021 Land Rover Discovery comes with enhancements in the form of the new Pivi Pro infotainment system with OTA updates. The model uses an 11.4-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system that is said to be 48 per cent larger and three times brighter than the older version. Land Rover's SOTA technology allows owners to update as many as 44 individual electronic modules, without the need to visit the service centre. The system also comes with the ClearSight Ground View and 3D surround camera, new haptic touch buttons, and a 12.3-inch digital console. The unit comes with high-definition 3D mapping, along with a host of customisable interface options. Other features include Cabin Air Ionisation with PM2.5 air filtration technology, Land Rover's Click and Go tablet holders, incorporated into the front seatbacks that also incorporates USB-A charging sockets.
The 2021 Discovery also gets a new conventional gearshift knob that replaces the rotary dial. The cabin gets comfier seats in the second row with improved lateral support, thicker and longer cushions and better under-thigh support. It can be adjusted with 160 mm of travel. The automaker is also offering the second-generation Activity Key with the car that allows users to lock, unlock and start the vehicle. Other features include Apple CaPlay and Android Auto, 15-watt wireless charging, powered tailgate, Intelligent Seat Fold and a remote app that allows access to driver data. Boot capacity stands at 258 litres with all three rows up. It increases to 1231 litres in the five-seater version and goes up to 2485 litres with the second folded down as well.
Power on the 2021 Land Rover Discovery comes from the 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol and diesel, as well as the 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engines. The P300 Ingenium petrol delivers 296 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque, whereas the P360 is tuned for 355 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque. The D300 develops 296 bhp and 650 Nm.
