Latest Update on Dzire

Maruti Suzuki has launched the new Dzire Facelift in India with prices starting at Rs. 5.94 lakh for the base LXi manual variant and topping at Rs. 8.90 lakh for the range topping ZXi+ automatic variant (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). Changes on the 2020 Maruti Suzuki Dzire Facelift are limited to the front end featuring a new single frame hexagonal grille with horizontal slats. The front bumper has been updates as well with bigger and sharper curtains for the fog lamp housing. Other than that, the 2020 Dzire remains identical to its predecessor with similar profile and rear design.

The cabin of the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire Facelift also remains unchanged in terms of design, layout and even features. Just that, like all updated Maruti Suzuki cars, even the Dzire gets the 7.0-inch Smartplay Studio 2.0 infotainment system which offers a more intuitive interface and continues to offer features like in-car Navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth among others. Other features on offer are auto climate control, auto headlamps, rain sensing wipers, cruise control and more. Under the hood, it gets the updated k-Series BS6 compliant 1.2-litre, four-cylinder engine. The motor is tuned to make 82 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque and comes mated to either a five-speed manual or an optional AMT gearbox. The 1.3-litre Fiat sourced diesel engine has been discontinued following Maruti's announcement to do away with diesel engines. The 2020 Maruti Suzuki Dzire facelift is being offered in four variants- LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+. Where the LXi variant is available only with the manual transmission, the latter three trims are offered with option of AMT as well.

Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Models are the Jimny, New Celerio and Futuro-e

Please read carefully and share your findings: I want to share my experience, recently I purchased a DZIRE VXI after reading number of good reviews of this car, but I feel that the most of the reviews are marketing gimmicks because nobody provide the car registration number in reviews. My purchase of DZIRE VXI is a great disappointment for me, it is a one of the worst car which I had driven. The car is unable to move when I release clutch, it starts jerking and vibrations, every time there is a need of acceleration to move the car, it is a great headache to drive this car in bumper to bumper traffic and on slops. I reported this issue to MARUTI but they are telling that it is a normal behavior of the DZIRE 2017 because the initial RPM of these cars are low and if they increase the initial RPM it will hamper the mileage, however the mileage of the car with the current setting is not very great as I am getting only 12-13 km/l in-spite of that the 50% of my driving route is very neat and clean. Mostly the people rely on the mileage as it is shown in display but it is fake, when check by tank full method I am getting 12-13 k.m./l while display showing 15.8-16.2 k.m/l. I request to the users of DZIRE 2018 please share your experience if you feel same problem.?

Maruti Suzuki Dzire Expert Review

While it was the Tata Indigo, that essentially started the trend for subcompact sedans in India, it was the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, earlier called the Swift Dzire that actually made that body type famous. Currently, in its third generation, the Dzire is right now the best-selling sub-4 metre sedan in India, and for more than once it has topped the charts with regards to the country's best-selling cars. Earlier this year, Maruti Suzuki India officially discontinued the diesel version of the Dzire, and right now it's a petrol-only model.

Design

The current Maruti Suzuki Dzire was the first to come to India from the new-generation Swift family, which is based on the Heatect platform. The car is stylish, well-proportioned and feature-packed. For the first time, the Dzire looked like an actual sedan, and not like a hatchback with a boot. The wide grille combined with the chrome accents accentuates this wide stance and the LED headlamps and daytime running lights add to the design upfront, making it look very current! The profile of the new Dzire is well sculpted and although the new car has been likened to an Ambassador reincarnate, we still think that the Maruti designers have put a ton and more of thought into this vehicle. It's equipped with a set of 16-inch wheels, and at the rear, you get nice LED taillamps, along with a sculpted boot and bumper.

Cabin

On to the interior then. With the Maruti Suzuki range moving to a more premium form of mobility in as many segments as they possibly can, it comes as no surprise that the new Dzire is plusher and more well equipped than ever. And it is also larger. A new platform always means more space and the new Dzire is wider in the front and the rear as compared to the older car. The overall space has increased both upfront, as well as, at the back and you also get a rear AC vent and a fold-down central console with some cup holders. The dashboard itself has a wood panel divider that is now much nicer to touch and has great dark-wood style texture as compared to previous generations. The centre of attraction in the Dzire though has to be the gloss black central console, which as always, is prone to fingerprint marks and dust. The console has a touchscreen infotainment unit that we have grown quite fond of. The touchscreen unit has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard and also houses inbuilt navigation. The touchscreen is responsive and easy to use and is one of the nicest screens on any sub-10-lakh rupee car out there.

Driving Experience

As mentioned above, the existing Maruti Suzuki Dzire is powered by the tried and tested 1.2-litre petrol engine, and it is BS6 compliant. The petrol engine makes 89 bhp of peak power and 113 Nm of peak torque and gets the option for either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed Auto Gear Shift (AGS) unit. That's Maruti's version of an AMT or Automated Manual Transmission unit. The petrol engine does feel slightly underpowered as compared to the now discontinued diesel even though it is rated higher in terms of horsepower, and that's because it makes less torque. But, with a strong top-end powerband it can keep you entertained if you rev it hard although that will have a direct effect on your fuel economy. The AMT unit offers a smoother shift to maximise comforts and is probably one of the better ones in this segment right now. It also gets hill hold assist and crawl mode, both of which work with no judders and drama at all. If driven sedately, both the manual and the automatic petrol return a respectable 20+ kmpl of fuel efficiency.

Safety

In terms of safety features, Maruti has gone that extra step and have made two airbags ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seatbelt reminder, and high-speed alert standard on all variants. The platform that underpins the Dzire also meets all future crash norms which include offset and pedestrian safety. And you get ISOFIX child seat mountings as standard across all variants. The higher variants also offer keyless entry, rear parking camera, and rear defogger.

Price

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire is offered in four key variants - LXI, VXI, ZXI and ZXI+ and the latter three also get optional AGS trims, and all of them are priced between Rs. 5.89 lakh to Rs. 8.80 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This makes the base variant of the Dzire Rs. 28,000 cheaper than the Honda Amaze, and Rs. Rs. 20,000 cheaper than the Ford Aspire. However, it's still about Rs. 4,000 more expensive than the base trim of its closest rival Hyundai Aura, and Rs. 50,000 dearer compared to the base variant of the Tata Tigor.

Final Verdict on Dzire

Verdict

The new Dzire then is just a great all-round package. It looks nice, especially compared to the older versions, is packed full of gadgets, and gets both manual and AMT option. While it might not be the cheapest offering, it does make for a good middle ground, by offering a capable engine, good fuel efficiency and decent features. Couple that with Maruti’s trusted after-sales service and you have all the important boxed checked.
