Maruti Suzuki Fronx

Introduction

• The Fronx is Maruti’s second compact SUV/crossover.
• It was launched in 2023, is based on the Baleno, and is offered with two petrol engines and two gearbox options.
• With a significant production milestone of five lakh units in just 28 months from its launch, it has been well-accepted by Indian buyers.
• In fact, it has emerged as India's highest exported passenger vehicle in FY 2024-25.
• The latter equated to one in every five locally manufactured units shipped overseas.
• It clearly shows this made-in-India SUV's high demand as it has cemented its global appeal in over 80 international markets.
• In the most recent update, Maruti Suzuki has updated the Fronx with six airbags as standard across the range.

Exterior of the Fronx

• As for the design, the Baleno-based Fronx closely resembles its elder sibling, the Grand Vitara, boasting a similar upright front fascia.
• Featuring a ‘NEXWave’ grille with a chrome finish, the Fronx gets ‘NEXTre’ LED DRLs and multi-reflector headlamps.
• In terms of dimensions, the Fronx has a length of 3,995mm, a width of 1,765mm, and a height of 1,550mm, while the wheelbase stands at 2,520mm.
• Its side profile is highlighted by silver-coloured roof rails, body-coloured ORVMs (black in dual-colour options), and geometric precision-cut alloy wheels.
• At the back, there are split LED taillights, body-coloured roof spoiler, and a shark-fin antenna.
• Even the large bumper comes with a prominent silver-coloured skid plate.

Interior of the Fronx

• The Fronx's interior gets a dual-tone theme like the Baleno.
• Taking centre stage is a floating nine-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system.
• Then, the dashboard is highlighted a flat-bottom three-spoke steering wheel with multi-controls.
• Other notable equipment includes rectangular air vents, head-up display, and a 360-degree camera.
• Otherwise, the seating layout, fabric of the seats and other upholstery remains the same as the Baleno.

Powertrain of the Fronx

• Under the hood of the Maruti Fronx is a 1.2-litre NA petrol motor.
• It produces 89bhp and 113Nm of torque, mated with a five-speed manual unit and an AMT unit.
• On the other hand, there's also a 1.0-litre BoosterJet turbo-petrol engine producing 99bhp and 147Nm of torque.
• It comes mated with either a five-speed manual unit or a six-speed automatic unit.
• Maruti claims that the Fronx returns a mileage of up to 22.89kmpl.
• Now, the Fronx is also available with a CNG kit.
