Suzuki Fronx Gets 5 Stars In ASEAN NCAP Crash Tests

- Export-spec Fronx scored 77.70 overall points

The Suzuki Fronx has been awarded a 5-star safety rating by the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP). The Fronx, which is built and exported from India to Southeast Asian markets, managed to get an overall score of 77.70 points, and depending on the market, the crossover also gets the option of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), something missing from the India-spec Fronx.

In Adult Occupant Protection, the Fronx achieved 29.37 out of 32 points. The frontal occupant compartment remained stable in the offset frontal test, with adequate protection for both front-seat occupants’ chests and marginal protection for the driver’s lower right leg. Protection in the side-impact test was also rated adequate. For Child Occupant Protection (COP), the Fronx scored 38.94 out of 51 points. The vehicle was tested with 18-month-old (rearward-facing) and three-year-old (forward-facing) dummies.

Under the Motorcyclist Safety pillar, which covers Blind Spot Detection, headlight performance and rider visibility aids, the Fronx earned 8.00 out of 16 points. The tested variant was a 1.5-litre petrol model with a 6-speed automatic transmission, which is made for markets such as Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
In the Safety Assist category, the Fronx obtained 16.50 out of 21 points. All variants come equipped with six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), seatbelt reminders for both front and rear occupants, ISOFIX mounts for child seats, and pedestrian-protection features.
The crash test report further adds that ADAS features such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), along with Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), and Auto High Beam (AHB) are offered either as standard or optional, depending on the market.
