The middle row is arguably the most comfortable cabin section. The captain seats offer phenomenal legroom and decent under-thigh support. They feature a retractable centre tray and side sunshades. However, it misses out on the powered ottoman function found in its Toyota counterpart.

The third row is surprisingly usable for a three-row MPV. While it lacks the sheer legroom of the middle row, average-sized adults can manage short trips. It also features a 50:50 split folding function.

When it comes to hauling luggage, this MPV holds its own quite well. With all three rows up, you get a usable 239 litres of boot space. It is enough for a couple of soft duffel bags or minimal grocery runs. However, if you fold the third row down, the cargo area expands to an impressive 690 litres. The loading lip is also wonderfully low, meaning you do not have to struggle while lifting heavy suitcases.

Meanwhile, the powered tailgate on the Alpha Plus variant makes accessing the boot far easier when your hands are occupied. You can easily help a friend move small furniture at the back with that kind of flat cargo volume.

The Invicto is a large vehicle, but it masks its dimensions brilliantly once you are on the move.

City Driving

Inside the city, this Maruti excels. The suspension is soft and heavily comfort-oriented, meaning it dampens minor road imperfections with ease. It rarely crashes through potholes, although the larger 17-inch wheels do let a bit of tyre noise filter into the cabin, something we already mentioned before. But, navigating tight streets is surprisingly easy for a vehicle this long, thanks to the brilliantly tuned power steering.

“The steering is light, which means manoeuvring this close to a 4.7-metre-long MPV in city traffic will be that much easier.”

The e-CVT gearbox is smooth in stop-and-go traffic, ensuring you never feel those annoying jerks while crawling.

Highway Driving

The MPV stays very stable at triple-digit speeds during highway stints. It eats up distances effortlessly, keeping its passengers unworried and fatigue-free for hours. However, pushing it too hard reveals its actual limits; the 2.0-litre engine runs out of breath at the top end, and overtaking also requires some planning.

Seshan specifies,

“Yes, there is also some body roll, but despite that, the Invicto feels very stable, and the vehicle reacts to the steering inputs quite nicely.”

While it is no cornering king, the straight-line stability is highly appreciated, something that excellent highway cruisers should usually have.

Maruti has avoided the trim bloat for the Invicto, as seen in the brand’s other models. You do not have to sift through a dozen confusing trims here; you are given only two main variants, Zeta Plus and Alpha Plus, powered by the same engine.
