As we observed the Exterior in our Toyota Innova Hycross expert review, it is clear the brand intended to balance visual appeal with the ruggedness required for Indian infrastructure.

• Front Profile: Up front, the Hycross features a classic hexagonal grille wrapped in chrome, sitting between those aggressive LED headlights. Those LED units really make the car pop at night. We noticed the main headlamps are positioned perfectly to throw light exactly where you need it for night-time highway runs.
• Side Profile: Looking at the side, the long wheelbase of 2,850mm is immediately obvious and plays a major part in freeing up cabin space. The 18-inch alloy wheels on the Toyota Innova Hycross top model feature a sharp design that fills the arches well. Large doors make ingress and egress easy for elderly passengers.
• Rear Profile: The rear design is broad, featuring split LED tail lamps. Furthermore, the electric tailgate opens out wide to make it easy to load large pieces of luggage.

Cabin Layout and Quality: 

The dashboard layout is horizontal and multi-layered, which helps to make the cabin feel wide. The dual-tone chestnut brown colour scheme brightens the interior.

Seating Comfort: 

• Middle Row: The Ottoman seats are a massive strength. On our long runs on the highway, there was minimal fatigue as the seats offer electronic recline and leg support.
• Third Row: The generous wheelbase translates into class-leading legroom even in the back. Under-thigh support is superior to most rivals.

• Multiple USB Type-C charging ports in all rows.
• Large 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone connectivity.
• Ventilated front seats which are a blessing in the Indian summer.

Efficiency is always a concern with large vehicles, but the Hybrid unit in the Hycross is designed for a balance of power and economy. During our tests on highways with a full load, the hybrid version was able to deliver impressive fuel economy.

Observed Fuel Efficiency During Testing 

Safety is an area where Hycross has set a benchmark. Unlike many cars in this range, it was built with a "safety-first" philosophy.

• Passive Safety: When we inspected the car, the availability of six airbags and a strong TNGA structure made us feel extremely safe.
• Active Safety: The top trims get Toyota Safety Sense (ADAS), including Lane Trace Assist and Blind Spot Monitoring.
• Expert Note: "This model has not yet been rated by Global/Bharat NCAP." However, it features Electronic Stability Control and Hill Start Assist as standard.

Technology in the Hycross is about functionality. The 10.1-inch touchscreen is incredibly responsive. During our testing, there was consistency with screen response times and smartphone connectivity with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

• Audio: We found the nine-speaker JBL sound system to be excellent.
• Practicality: The wireless charging pad is conveniently located, and the inclusion of Type-C ports ensures all modern devices are supported.

Boot space is one of the primary reasons why buyers prefer the Hycross.

  In real-world use, this means practical accommodation of three large suitcases for airport runs. The flat loading floor makes it easy to cope with bulky cargo. There is also an underfloor storage compartment for smaller items like a toolkit.

In our test drive, we found that the Hycross clearly trumps its ladder-frame rivals in high-speed stability.

• City Driving: In urban conditions, the suspension feels slightly firm but never harsh. It absorbs imperfections well without thudding into the cabin.
• Highway Driving: We observed that the Hycross settles into a very relaxed cruising pace. At speeds between 100 kmph and 120 kmph, the car feels incredibly stable.
