The large seven-eight seater vehicles have been gaining momentum in India as they offer enough space letting the entire family travel together. Considering that India has large joint families, the idea of a large vehicle fits the bill. Ever since its come back in domestic market, Renault has been looking to come up with products that strike a chord with Indian customers, especially the high-volume segment and so far it has come up with a couple of viable offerings one of which is Lodgy. Launched in 2015, Lodgy is a capacious MPV available in seven and eight seat layout. In terms of looks, the vehicle does not score much as it goes against Honda’s Mobilio sporting the contemporary Honda design language, even the new Innova Crysta dons a modish silhouette and MSI too has tweaked the styling of Ertiga. Although Lodgy isn’t all boxy like some of the other MPVs.

Interiors are commodious, the long wheelbase translates into a roomy cabin that offers comfortable third row which is quite unlikely in rivals especially Ertiga. Renault has equipped Logdy well with a string of comfort goodies along with eminent safety features. Hardware powering the MPV is a 1.5 litre dCi diesel powertrain outputting power in two states of tune whereas petrol engine is missing from the line-up. Transmission choices comprise of two manual transmission, the auto box is missing which by far is available in just Ertiga. Fuel economy claimed by Lodgy is promising; however it still does not offer the segment best mileage.
