Tata Nexon Review and Opinion - Top Things to Know

The Tata Nexon has been around for a while and is quite a successful model. And that's quite a compliment for the car as it stands tall in a highly contested compact SUV segment. This includes the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, and many such vehicles.

The Nexon has been tested by our team at CarandBike plenty of times. In fact, Seshan Vijayraghvan has reviewed it several times, and even ran it as a long-term vehicle. While one can read it in detail in the First Tata Nexon Report (Tata Nexon Petrol Automatic Long Term Review: 45 Days Later) and the Concluding Report (Tata Nexon Petrol Automatic 3000 km Long Term Review), here are the top five things to deduce from his experience with the Tata Nexon.

  • The Nexon is a head-turner on the road and with a bold design that impresses.
  • Its design has been well-appreciated by Indians.
  • Also, the very reason, be it the ICE, CNG or even the electric version, they look identical to each other.

Seshan used the one in Fearless Purple shade and says, "Now, it's been a little over 45 days since the Nexon reached the car&bike garage, and it was in that much-talked-about Fearless Purple shade, with the dual-tone purple seats and all. Which I have to say, I did not like in photos but looks quite nice in person."

He also adds, "Every time someone asks me to suggest a car to them under Rs. 15 lakh, I instantly think about the Tata Nexon, it’s great to drive, it’s feature-packed, and while looks are subjective, I think most of you will agree with me that, right now, the Nexon is probably the best-looking version of itself."

Pros

  • Refreshed cabin with new equipment
  • Enhanced safety with five-star rating
  • Impressive ride quality

Cons

  • Diesel engine less refined than rivals
  • Fit and finish could be better

Verdict

The new Nexon is a strong contender in the sub-four metre compact SUV segment. It outshines new crossovers in space, features, safety, performance, etc., with added premium features and cosmetic updates. Though its futuristic styling might polarise buyers, upgraded equipment, and interior quality make it a compelling choice.
