While the 2026 Safari hasn't changed much from its existing diesel model, the new 1.5 Hyperion model introduces a petrol model for the first time in the Safari. Here are the top five things to know from the first drive impressions of the 2026 Tata Harrier and Safari 1.5 Hyperion review:

The new 1.5L Hyperion model is powered by a turbo-petrol engine.
It delivers 168bhp and 280Nm of torque offering a smooth and refined driving experience.
It also comes with improved NVH levels and a 0-100 kmph time between 9.5-10.2 seconds.

Seshan says, “For these OMEGArc-based SUVs, the Hyperion motor is offered at a higher state of tune. So, it now produces 168 bhp and 280 Nm. Power is right up there with the diesel, though torque is about 40 Nm lower. That said, spec sheets rarely tell the full story when it comes to real-world performance.”
