- An upright position along with a spacious seat treat both rider and pillion well.
- Its light and accessible 790mm seat height makes riding in traffic effortless.
Cons
- The hybrid power assist is hardly felt and nothing to be excited about.
- Pushing this bike past 80 kmph makes the engine feel distinctly strained.
- The suspension setup feels slightly hard over broken roads.
- Its steep price is not justified when rivals have upside-down forks and more power.
Verdict
The Yamaha FZ-S FI Hybrid builds upon the strengths of the existing FZ platform by essentially adding a tech-heavy update. It takes advantage of the existing muscular body, retains the brand’s build quality, relaxed riding posture and throws in things like modern phone connectivity and the slight boost in mileage.
What it lacks is any performance gains, the low-speed ride is hard and its costs a sizable premium over the regular FZ-S. Although hard to reel in performance fans, if you want an efficient commuter that has a bright colour instrumentation and a start/stop system, the FZ-S Hybrid may just be your bet.
