Aprilia SR 150 Specifications

Piaggio India has rolled out the BS6 compliant versions of the Aprilia and Vespa scooters in the country. The scooters now get a high performance 160 cc single-cylinder engine that is now fuel-injected in order to meet the upcoming stringent emission norms. With the new powertrain, the Aprilia SR 150 has been rebadged as the Aprilia SR 160. The new Aprilia SR 160 now starts from Rs. 85,431, which is about Rs. 10,000 more expensive than the older version. The new BS6 Vespa 150 SXL, meanwhile, starts at Rs. 91,492 (all-prices, ex-showroom Pune).

Piaggio's Aprilia SR 150 has earned a reputation of being a fun 150 cc scooter in the market and the model is all set to be updated with ABS in January 2019. The Aprilia SR 150 ABS will start arriving at dealerships starting next year and bookings are already open for the updated model. The Aprilia SR 150 willl now come the single-channel ABS system with prices starting at Rs. 82,000 for the standard version, while the SR 150 Carbon is priced at Rs. 83,000. The range-topping Aprilia SR 150 Race is priced at Rs. 88,000 (all prices, ex-showroom). That's a hike of almost 10,000 over the non-ABS versions. Earlier this year, Piaggio had introduced the refreshed versions of the Aprilia SR 150 and the Vespa range in the country with new connectivity features and colour options.

The 2019 Aprilia and Vespa scooter range were launched recently with comprehensive upgrades and the models get some very features for the new model year. The 150 cc scooters though still lack ABS, which will be mandatory on all 125 cc and above two-wheelers starting April next year. Nevertheless, the Aprilia and Vespa ABS and CBS versions are well on their way, and the CarAndBike can now confirm that the safety-equipped versions will arrive towards the end of the year. Piaggio India - Head of Two-wheeler business, Ashish Yakhmi confirmed the development to CarAndBike on the sidelines of the updated scooter range.

The special edition versions bring new paint options to the SR 150 range and a few feature upgrades as well for a refreshed look on the performance-oriented scooter. Interestingly, both the versions were first unveiled at the Auto Expo earlier this year.
