The S 1000 R gets subtle design changes and more power than its predecessor.

Both naked motorcycles receive power gains and electronic updates.

BMW Motorrad has launched the 2017 model of its popular S1000 R super-naked sportbike. It was first showcased at the 2017 EICMA along with the updated BMW S1000 RR sportbike and the S1000 XR adventure sport motorcycle. BMW Motorrad has given quite a few updates to the S1000 R such as a new lighter chassis, Euro IV compliant engine with a bump of 5 bhp from 157 bhp to 162 bhp and a 2kg reduction in weight from 207kg to 205kg. The 2017 model also gets a revised electronics package which includes lean-angle sensitive ABS along with a bi-directional quick-shifter as well.

The BMW S1000R street-fighter is all set to receive a subtle facelift soon it seems, for the 2017 model year.
