BMW Motorrad Launches 2017 BMW S1000 R

- The engine output on the 2017 BMW S1000 R has increased by 5 bhp
- The bike gets a revised electronics package
- The bike conforms to Euro IV norms for efficiency, noise and emissions
BMW Motorrad has launched the 2017 model of its popular S1000 R super-naked sportbike. It was first showcased at the 2017 EICMA along with the updated BMW S1000 RR sportbike and the S1000 XR adventure sport motorcycle. BMW Motorrad has given quite a few updates to the S1000 R such as a new lighter chassis, Euro IV compliant engine with a bump of 5 bhp from 157 bhp to 162 bhp and a 2kg reduction in weight from 207kg to 205kg. The 2017 model also gets a revised electronics package which includes lean-angle sensitive ABS along with a bi-directional quick-shifter as well.
(2017 BMW S1000 R-Instrument console)The updates further continue with a titanium silencer at the rear for conforming to Euro IV noise and emission regulations and a vibration-free handlebar for riding comfort. The company is also offering light alloy forged HP wheels as options, which are 2.4kg lighter than the alloys on the previous version. The instrumentation cluster has also been updated to have better readability and is more comprehensive now. The fairing around the headlamp cluster too has been reduced to give it an even more 'naked street-fighter' look.
(2017 BMW S1000 R)BMW Motorrad will be offering new colour schemes for the 2017 S1000 R such as Racing Red/Blackstorm, Catalano Grey and a BMW Motorsport dual-tone option as well. We sincerely hope that BMW Motorrad launches its operations in India with full effect as soon as possible. It is one of the very few international performance motorcycle manufacturers who don't have presence in India.
