What's New on Honda Elevate?
Introduction

- Honda's latest mid-size SUV, the Elevate, was first launched in India in September 2023.
- While the SUV hasn't changed much, the carmaker has been making changes to it to keep it fresh amidst the competition.
- The upgrades include exterior styling elements, new interior themes, and special editions.
- Amongst these is the latest range-topping version of the Elevate called the Elevate ADV Edition.
- Apart from the existing Black Editions, the ADV variant brings a sportier look and several unique cosmetic enhancements.
Exterior

- The Elevate is a proper mid-size SUV with proportions like its rivals including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and the likes.
- Honda has kept the design intact with just a little nip and tuck to keep it afresh.
- For example, the standard Elevate Black Edition comes with chrome and silver highlights.
- On the other hand, the Signature Black Edition gets full blacked-out styling with a new grille.
- Now, the latest ADV Edition stands out with exclusive styling upgrades.
- These include a glossy black Alpha-Bold Plus front grille and an orange-accented hood decal.
- It also gets black roof rails, ORVMs, and black alloy wheels with orange highlights.
- Other highlights include an orange fog lamp garnish, ADV badges, and a rear bumper skid plate with orange accents.
Interior

- The Elevate seating layout and design is more or less the same ever since its launch, expect for some cosmetic changes.
- For example, the biggest addition is in the form of the top-spec ZX variant, which now gets an ivory interior theme with leatherette upholstery, soft-touch inserts on the doors and dashboard.
- Prospective buyers can also opt for a 360-degree surround vision camera and seven-colour ambient lighting.
- Meanwhile, the V and VX trims feature black fabric upholstery with ivory inserts, in place of the earlier shadow beige theme.
- In contrast, the Elevate ADV Edition boasts an all-black cabin with orange stitching and accents on the seats, AC knobs, and gear console.
- Another unique highlight is the first-in-Honda ADV Terrain Pattern backlit illuminated instrument panel.
- Here, even the seats feature embossed ADV logos for added appeal and to stand apart from the standard version.
- Moreover, the Black and Signature Black Editions continue to feature all-black interiors with leatherette seats and soft-touch materials.
- On the safety front, the Elevate top-spec variants including the ADV Edition come equipped a lot of features.
- For example, there's a Honda Sensing ADAS suite, including collision mitigation braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and more.
- Otherwise, the standard safety features include six airbags, lane watch camera, hill start assist, vehicle stability control, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
Powertrain

- Honda had launched the Elevate with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine.
- It comes mated to either a six-speed manual gearbox or a CVT.
- Even the new ADV Edition carries forward this familiar 1.5-litre engine.
- Notably, the CVT automatic is a seven-step transmission with paddle shifters.

car&bike Expert Take
“The Honda Elevate has all the important fundamentals a mid-size SUV needs. It could have done slightly better with some modern amenities. Still, the rest of the package, such as the refined petrol engine and the practical cabin, means this vehicle is still worth considering while browsing the SUV market.”

Launched for India in 2023, the Honda Elevate was first introduced to challenge a few existing heavyweights. These rivals were chasing extreme aesthetics or an endless kit list. But Honda opted for a workmanlike, mature approach to their vehicle, as they made their SUV capable of delivering a well-sorted driving experience along with genuine daily usability instead.

The Elevate of today has the proven mechanicals of the City sedan, and buyers looking for an honest, fuss-free daily driver will find a lot to like here. Honda has deliberately skipped a diesel engine and hybrid powertrain to put its entire focus on the naturally aspirated 1.5-Litre i-VTEC petrol setup. The strategy here is clear: make a vehicle for those who value simple longevity, enjoy a clear driving position, and always want reliable engineering over superficial electronics.
Seshan Vijayraghvan checked out the Honda Elevate thoroughly, from its engine performance to its exterior design. Meanwhile, Bilal Firfiray talked about why you should buy this car or why you should avoid it. We have compiled their insights here from both the YouTube video and the review, which you will find as you keep reading.
The Honda Elevate keeps all things beautifully simple under the bonnet. You get a single-engine choice, and there are no turbocharged options here. This naturally aspirated unit's grunt stays highly linear and predictable.
Engine Specifications
| Engine | Power | Torque | Transmission | Drivetrain |
| 1.5-Litre i-VTEC Petrol | 119 bhp | 145 Nm | Six-speed manual / Seven-speed CVT automatic | Front-wheel drive |
Driving Experience: Real World
The Elevate’s chassis is wonderfully sorted, but the powertrain demands a specific driving style to keep it going.
City Driving
The vehicle’s single engine is quite refined and stable, letting you move around the city without any worries. It’s peppy and responsive, but sometimes lacks a punch during quick overtaking. Notably, it clearly does not have the stronger acceleration in its higher revs like its turbocharged competitors.
But Seshan says this about its low-end performance,
“Honda has shortened the gear ratios between 1st and 2nd gear to provide more low-end punch, which effectively masks the engine's sluggishness.”

Highway Driving
Out on the open road, the Elevate's engine settles nicely into a long-legged cruise. However, it begins to feel out of breath if you push it exceptionally hard towards the red line, so expect its best cruising speed to be somewhere around 100 to 120 kmph.
Honda has gone for a bold and macho look that ticks the right boxes for SUV buyers. The exterior proportions of this vehicle are generous. It stands taller than several of its direct rivals, which means you benefit from a highly practical cabin layout. The overall design language is decidedly safe as it sticks to its squarish lines and a flat bonnet.
It stays clear of the polarising, split-headlight treatments we often see in this segment. Also, the Elevate hides its physical bulk well, with the massive wheel arches and heavy cladding making it look utilitarian. And even if it weighs over a ton, the SUV is exceptionally easy to manoeuvre through tight city lanes. 220 mm ground clearance, meanwhile, means it irons out potholes effortlessly.
Dimensions Comparison
Dimension | Honda Elevate | Hyundai Creta | Kia Seltos |
| Length | 4,312 mm | 4,330 mm | 4,460 mm |
| Width | 1,790 mm | 1,790 mm | 1,830 mm |
| Height | 1,650 mm | 1,635 mm | 1,645 mm |
| Wheelbase | 2,650 mm | 2,610 mm | 2,690 mm |
This vehicle is shorter in length than the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos, but it’s visibly taller than both of them at 1,650 mm.
The SUV’s outer appearance steals roadside attention without relying on heavy visual drama. Putting it simply, it has a tough, confident aura.
Front Profile
- The massive, upright grille has a thick, three-piece chrome highlight.
- Smart LED headlights with DRLs make the vehicle’s face better by adding a modern touch.
- The flat bonnet lends a lot to the car’s commanding SUV stance.
Side Profile
- It rolls on handsome 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels on the top-spec trims.
- There is heavy black cladding along the wheel arches to protect the paint from stray gravel.
- The thick C-pillar and functional roof rails complete the tough exterior visual from this angle.
Rear Profile
- The connected LED tail lamps tidy up the tailgate design at the back.
- There is a subtle rear spoiler here; it adds a hint of sportiness without looking bolted-on.
- The bumper sits high up, proudly showing its unladen 220 mm ground clearance.
The Elevate’s interior isn’t anything flashy; it’s simple, spacious, and a functional comfort box. With leatherette upholstery, it has either a completely black theme or a black-and-beige alternative, depending on the styling you want.

Cabin Layout and Quality
First, you are greeted by a beautifully clean and clutter-free dashboard; the fit and finish are exceptional here. Second, the cabin feels remarkably upmarket for the price tag, thanks to the excellent touchpoints.
Seating Comfort
Front Row
The front seats offer brilliant bolstering and solid under-thigh support. The driving position gives you a commanding view of the road ahead, making it extremely easy to place the SUV in traffic. It lacks a power-adjustable driver seat, which is slightly disappointing.
Second Row
Legroom, knee room, and headroom are excellent for two adults in the second row, but a third passenger in the middle will make you feel like the space is too cramped. Some owners have also said that this car may not give you satisfactory under-thigh support.

Features That Improve Daily Use
- The driver gets a crisp 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- There is also a seven-inch digital driver’s display that is wonderfully easy to read.
- A single-pane sunroof and a handy wireless phone charging pad are some other handy features.
- There are rear AC vents and a 12V socket to keep passengers in the back comfortable.
Honda has priced the Elevate aggressively to face off against several key rivals. The entry-level SV manual variant starts at a very pocket-friendly price point, but moving up the range, expect your bill to go up with the fully-loaded ZX CVT.

Ex-Showroom Prices (India)
| Variant | Engine & Transmission | Ex-Showroom Price |
| SV | 1.5-Litre Petrol, Six-speed manual | Rs. 11.59 – 11.60 Lakh |
| V | 1.5-Litre Petrol, Six-speed manual / Seven-speed CVT | Rs. 12.06 – 13.01 Lakh |
| VX | 1.5-Litre Petrol, Six-speed manual / Seven-speed CVT | Rs. 13.75 – 14.91 Lakh |
| ZX | 1.5-Litre Petrol, Six-speed manual / Seven-speed CVT | Rs. 14.88 – 14.98 Lakh |
Fuel economy often decides which car wins or loses in this highly competitive segment. The naturally aspirated 1.5-Litre engine is reasonably frugal, but don’t expect it to break any efficiency records. During our tests, the manual variant returned slightly lower figures in dense traffic. The CVT, however, cleverly keeps the revs low and steady, which helps stretch your fuel budget during slow city commuting. But, on the open road, both gearboxes perform admirably if you avoid aggressive throttle inputs.
Observed Fuel Efficiency During Testing
Engine and Transmission | 1.5-Litre Petrol Manual | 1.5-Litre Petrol CVT |
| ARAI-Claimed Mileage | 15.31 kmpl | 16.92 kmpl |
| Real-World City Mileage | 11–13 kmpl | 10–12 kmpl |
| Real-World Highway Mileage | 14–16 kmpl | 13–15 kmpl |
Safety is an area where Honda has thankfully not compromised at all, as the Elevate borrows heavily from the City’s structural engineering to give buyers another proven vehicle.
Passive Safety and Crash Protection
The chassis uses high-tensile steel for the rigid passenger cell. Up to six airbags are available for crash protection, while you also get ISOFIX child seat mounting points as standard. Bharat NCAP has still not tested the Elevate yet, but it secured an outstanding five-star rating in the rigorous JNCAP crash tests.
Active Safety and Stability Systems
The Elevate comes equipped with an impressive suite of active systems. Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) are standard, but the absolute highlight here is the Level 2 ADAS suite, also known as Honda Sensing. It has Collision Mitigation Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keep Assist, and you also get the immensely practical Honda LaneWatch camera.
Safety Verdict
Exceptionally secure and planted; that's what the Elevate feels like on the tarmac. The ADAS on this vehicle is brilliantly calibrated for unpredictable Indian roads. Meanwhile, steering corrections from the Lane Keep Assist are gentle and predictable, making long highway journeys a completely fuss-free experience.
Inside, Honda has chosen a clean, conventional design over flashy gimmicks. The cabin feels premium, featuring soft-touch plastics, artificial wood inserts, and tan leatherette upholstery on the seats.
Infotainment and Interface
- You get a new 10.25-inch touchscreen that is now more intuitive and responsive than before.
- A seven-inch digital instrument cluster is there to give clear, legible data on the move.
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included.

Cabin Convenience and Practical Features
- The seats are well-bolstered and very comfortable with great support during long trips.
- Despite having a wireless charger, all USB ports are Type-A, which feels dated in a Type-C world.
- While it has a sunroof, it’s a single-pane unit, not the panoramic glass rivals offer.
At 458 litres, the boot is wonderfully spacious. It easily swallows enough luggage for a long weekend away with the family, and the load lip's height is well thought out, as minimal effort is needed to load heavy suitcases inside. Furthermore, you get a 60:40 split rear seat configuration, so fold the seats down, and voila, the storage capacity expands. Overall, it ticks all the boxes for practicality.

Comfortable, mature, and effortless; these are the three terms we will use to define the Elevate’s riding experience. It has that smooth European-tuned suspension to handle Indian roads, but do remember that this is a vehicle more suitable for cruising than spirited driving, since the engine noise at much higher speeds and higher revs begins to irk you.
City Driving
As we already said, the suspension setup feels wonderfully done. It handles patchy terrain with incredible ease, simply gliding over standard potholes. The ride is also beautifully pliant as the vehicle cushions passengers from sharp impacts. Meanwhile, in stop-and-go city traffic, you can move around worry-free.

Highway Driving
However, on the highway, the car feels a bit sluggish. We know who's to blame here; it's the extra weight of the SUV, and also the "rubber band effect" often common in CVT setups. Still, the shifts are smooth and precise, and climbing to sixth gear is a fairly comfortable experience.
According to Seshan,
“The ride quality is a highlight; it soaks up road undulations beautifully. While the handling is predictable and safe, the steering feels a bit "wooden" with very little feedback.”
The Elevate range is wonderfully straightforward; you can pick between four main trim levels.
Variant | Engine & Transmission | Key Additions | Ex-Showroom Price |
| SV | 1.5-Litre Petrol, Six-speed manual | Dual airbags, LED projector headlamps | Rs. 11.59 – 11.60 Lakh |
| V | 1.5-Litre Petrol, Six-speed manual / Seven-speed CVT | Wireless phone mirroring, steering control | Rs. 12.06 – 13.01 Lakh |
| VX | 1.5-Litre Petrol, Six-speed manual / Seven-speed CVT | Single-pane sunroof, lane-watch camera | Rs. 13.75 – 14.91 Lakh |
| ZX | 1.5-Litre Petrol, Six-speed manual / Seven-speed CVT | Level 2 ADAS, leatherette seats | Rs. 14.88 – 14.98 Lakh |
The Essentials That You Don’t Get
- It misses out on ventilated seats and power-adjustable driver seats.
- There is no diesel engine or strong-hybrid option available.
Four variants may not be enough in today’s automotive sector, considering rivals sometimes offer much more than that, but the Elevate chooses simplicity for a reason; whatever you need within this budget, you will find it available in the available models.
Best for Everyday City Commutes: V CVT
If you want a daily driver, there is no need to look past the V CVT. You get the smooth transmission that can handle crawling traffic brilliantly.
Best for Enthusiasts: VX MT
If you enjoy being aggressive on the gas pedal, the six-speed manual is a delight. You also get 17-inch alloys and a sunroof in this one, without stretching to the pricey top-spec model.
Best for Full Equipment: ZX CVT
For buyers wanting everything, the fully-loaded ZX CVT delivers. The Level 2 ADAS suite is here, along with the premium 10.25-inch touchscreen.
Bilal explains who the target audience ultimately is,
“It doesn't attract young at heart or risk takers or people who want fun, but the Elevate attracts buyers who are mature, and sensible and want a car for a purpose and not flamboyance.”
India’s mid-size SUV segment is hot and heavy, stacked with the most value-for-money vehicles the country has for its citizens. Undoubtedly, the Elevate goes through some major competition here.
The Creta, in particular, has great resale value, while the Seltos has a design that simply cannot be beaten. But, acknowledging that these are two fronts the Elevate cannot win on, it shines with a spacious cabin and a strong safety suite.
| Model | Engine Options | Key Value Proposition | Ex-Showroom Price |
| Honda Elevate | 1.5-Litre Petrol | Cabin space, Level 2 ADAS | Rs. 11.59 – 14.98 Lakh |
| Hyundai Creta | 1.5-Litre Petrol / Diesel / Turbo | Massive feature list, multiple engines | Rs. 10.79 – 20.20 Lakh |
| Kia Seltos | 1.5-Litre Petrol / Diesel / Turbo | Sporty dynamics, sharp styling | Rs. 10.99 – 19.99 Lakh |

Which Mid-Size SUV Should You Choose?
- Choose the Honda Elevate if you value a pliant ride, straightforward practicality, and solid safety tech.
- Choose the Hyundai Creta if you want diesel grunt, lavish features, and great resale value.
- Choose the Kia Seltos if sharp looks, snappy gearboxes, and a truly upmarket cabin matter most.
Pros
- The ride quality is extremely comfortable
- The cabin is big and spacious enough
- The gear shifts are smooth and precise
- The 1.5-Litre i-VTEC engine is highly refined and reliable
Cons
- The engine does not have low-end punch
- There are no ventilated seats
- There is no power-adjustable driver's seat
- Only a petrol engine is available
Verdict
The Honda Elevate is an honest, highly capable mid-size SUV that buyers will find comfortable and safe to engage with. It's got that widely loved macho aesthetic, and it's built to serve, giving you the luxury of traversing through broken Indian roads while staying composed and maintenance-free for as long as possible.
However, we admit it has some faults. The engine chokes up when you push it too hard, and some other features should have been here to stay ahead of the competition. But look past those shortcomings, and you still get to experience Honda's legendary reliability at its finest. Overall, this is one comfortable crossover for most buyers.
Seshan summarises,
“The Honda Elevate is a solid, honest attempt at a midsize SUV. It’s comfortable, safe, and looks the part.”
Honda Elevate mileage
Honda Elevate mileage is 15 to 16 KM/L as per ARAI The Manual Petrol engine has a mileage of 15.3 KM/L. The CVT Petrol engine has a mileage of 16.9 KM/L. The Automatic Petrol engine has a mileage of 16.9 KM/L. ...

- Fuel efficiency is decent4.0VX(Petrol)I’ve been driving honda elevate for almost a year now, and while there are things I really like, there are also a few aspects that could be better. The design is sleek and stylish, which definitely turns heads. The interior space is quite comfortable, and the seats are great for long drives. The engine performance is smooth, and it handles city traffic well. However, I feel the pick-up could be a bit more powerful, especially on highways when overtaking. The fuel efficiency is decent but not as great as I was hoping for in city conditions. The ride quality is mostly smooth, but the suspension feels a bit stiff over rough roads. Overall, I like my honda elevate for its looks and comfort, but there’s definitely room for improvement, especially in terms of performance and ride qualityBy KapilPosted on: Sep 25, 2024 09:56 AM00
