car&bike Expert Take
“A track weapon also meant for the road, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R brings staggering performance under a competitive price bracket. It demands respect with its 998cc inline-four engine, race-ready electronics, and integrated aerodynamic winglets, and is a performance machine built to thrill experienced speed merchants.”
While the Indian market has always appreciated one of its most accessible and popular litre-class superbikes, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R also earned a moniker globally for its dominance in the World Superbike Championship. The Japanese manufacturer has made some recent changes to their offering, such as giving the front cowl aerodynamic winglets that improve overall stability at high speeds. Built on a twin-spar cast aluminium frame, it's exceptionally agile, has a tall windscreen, straighter handlebars, and elevated footpegs. Weighing 207 kg, this bike stays planted and stable even in the most challenging conditions.

At car&bike, we have closely followed the ZX-10R over the years, throughout updates and facelifts that engineers have carried out on this bike. We covered the 2025 edition’s launch update and also checked out its 2021 edition some years back. Our observations are shared throughout this review to help you decide whether the Ninja ZX-10R beats those that are in close competition.
While some other bikes like the BMW S 1000 RR and the Ducati Panigale V4 have more advanced technology and better exotic elements, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R stays relevant among bike enthusiasts because of its price, and it does not sacrifice any superbike capabilities either. The latest 2026 update of this vehicle comes with customisable riding modes and Kawasaki Traction Control, along with the famous bi-directional quickshifter.
Pros
- Unmatched value for money in the litre-class segment
- WorldSBK-derived chassis and aerodynamic performance
- Comprehensive IMU-based electronic rider aids
Cons
- Committed riding posture causes fatigue
- Instrument cluster interface feels slightly dated
- Engine heat management is poor in slow traffic
Verdict
By nature, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is a pure track weapon that also happens to have mirrors and indicators. For the sake of street comfort, it does not soften its racing DNA, and if you want a motorcycle that brings championship-winning engineering to the road, this machine delivers exactly that.
Its pricing gives it an edge on economic value, as you get top-tier mechanical grip and explosive acceleration at a lower cost than its European counterparts. But riding a Kawakasi Ninja ZX-10R is not for everybody; you need to have physical fitness, deep respect, and high skill levels to command this bike. Also, its stiff suspension will punish your daily commutes. But if your primary objectives lean more towards track days, empty highways, and canyon carving, this is one formidable bike to check out.
As one review by our car&bike team concludes,
“It can be said that the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is a good value for money, with new design concepts and a series of updated features, making its on-road appearance striking, with great pick-up and performance, along with average comfort and optimal riding experience.”

- Making it uncomfortable in traffic3.0STD BS VI(Petrol)The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is a high-performance machine but comes with its drawbacks. First, the price point is steep compared to some competitors like the BMW S1000RR, which offers more advanced electronics and a more refined ride experience. The ZX-10R is also uncomfortable for city rides, with its aggressive seating position and stiff suspension, making it less versatile. While it excels on the track, the heat management is poor during normal commutes, making it uncomfortable in traffic. Given these issues, if you're looking for a daily superbike, the competition might be worth considering.By Hameed KulPosted on: Sep 30, 2024 11:35 AM20
- ONE OF THE BEST5.0STD BS VI(Petrol)One of top 3 best performing track bikes in India. These bikes are not suitable for indian roads, only dumb people run then on roads at high speed (which is illegal). This bike is super fun on tracks.
