What's New?
The 2021 Kawasaki Versys 650 BS6 continues to draw power from the 649 cc twin-cylinder engine that now develops 65 bhp at 8500 rpm and 61 Nm of peak torque available at 7000 rpm. In comparison, the BS4 version developed 68 bhp at 8500 rpm and 64 Nm of peak torque at 7000 rpm. The 6-speed gearbox has been carried over. The motor has been inclined towards offering a strong mid-range, which has been retained on the updated version.
Other cycle parts remain the same including the 21 litre fuel tank, 41 mm USD front forks with 150 mm of travel and offset laydown monoshock at the rear with 145 mm of travel. Both units are adjustable. Braking performance comes from the 300 mm petal discs up front and dual-piston calipers, while the rear gets a 250 mm petal disc brake with a single-piston caliper. The bike rides on 17-inch alloy wheels.
Apart from the new engine, the Kawasaki Versys 650 BS6 remains identical to the older model. The bike does not get the new TFT instrument console either that has made way on other BS6 Kawasaki motorcycles, while it also misses out on the Rideology app that offers smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth. The existing semi-digital instrument console gets a gear indicator. The adventure tourer continues to come with an adjustable windscreen, a wide handlebar with a comfortable and upright seat position. It retains the dual headlamps that continue to sport halogen bulbs in place of LEDs.

Verdict
The Kawasaki Versys 650 is a great bike to ride around the city - riding in traffic isn't much of a wrestle, considering the bike looks quite tall and imposing. The Versys 650 could very well be all the bike you need - for your daily commute, for the weekend ride, and even for the long haul with your significant other as pillion with luggage. At ₹ 7.3 lakh (on-road Delhi), you can look at the Benelli 600 GT and even the Honda CBR 650F as options.

- Complete Package4.0STD(Petrol)Always wanted an easy to ride and entertaining bike and Versys 650 fits perfectly. After doing much of market research on which bike to be brought with under 10 lakhs price range, I picked up Versys 650. I have picked Suzuki V-Strom and Versys and preferred V-Storm over Kawasaki since it was having traction control and tubeless type on spoke wheels but there was no dealer selling premium Suzuki bike in Kochi and nearest one was in Calicut and 4000 Kms service interval made me to rethink the option of V-Storm. Between that, FB post from Triumph Kochi came to my attention and they were offering good discounts and EMI schemes on Tiger XR. I made a visit to their showroom and felt good on showroom experience where you get a good premium feel as customer which was purely missed in Kawasaki showroom. Took a test ride of Tiger and felt good other that the heat management, on the same day called Kawasaki guy and took the test ride of Versys on same route and very much impressed with its performance. Since Tiger is considered the benchmark in adventure touring segment and Versys was matching Tiger performance at-least by 80% and with price difference of around 6 lakhs, I zeroed on Versys, booked the bike same day. Will surely consider Tiger for future upgrades. Coming on to ownership of Versys, service is not that great with Kawasaki, parts are very expensive and not available when required. Seat height is not a problem for me since I'm 5.11. Long distance is easy on the bike since the suspension and riding position is very good which keep you going miles after miles. The bike is amazing and keeps you engaged during your ride which makes big smile on your face. If you are looking for bike to show off with loud exhaust note, high speed flyby etc. then Versys may not be your machine. This bike is made for long distance touring on highways only.By Veeraraghavan NPosted on: Dec 26, 2019 10:55 PM190
