Introduction

• The Maruti Suzuki Jimny has proved to be a worthy successor to the iconic Gypsy.
• It is quite a compact, budget-friendly SUV, which is also a capable off-roader.
• As a result, it gives tough competition to the five-door Thar and Gurkha derivatives.
• The five-door Jimny is made in India, popular not just in India, but abroad as well surpassing one lakh exports already.
• This SUV is based on a ladder-frame chassis, powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine, and with off-road capabilities handled by an ALLGRIP PRO (4WD) system.
• Customers can choose from two variants, namely Zeta and Alpha, across seven colour options.

• The five-door Jimny is bigger than the three-door model available abroad.

• With a chunky wheel cladding, the Jimny rides on grey alloy wheels and get black ORVMs.

Interior

• The interior of the five-door Jimny isn't very different from the three-door and shares many components with other siblings.
• Taking centre stage is a nine-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system.
• Other features include a hard-top, dark-green glass, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a three-spoke steering wheel.

Powertrain

• The Jimny is powered by a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine.
• This motor generates an output of 103bhp and 134Nm of torque.
• It comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox as standard.
• However, buyers can also opt for a four-speed torque converter automatic unit.
• Maruti Suzuki claims a mileage of up to 16.94kmpl for the Jimny.
