Automakers racing to develop battery-powered, software-driven vehicles to compete with Tesla Inc are confronting a new challenge: what technology to build themselves, and what to keep buying from suppliers.
Tata Motors has been testing a slew of new EVs including the Tata Nexon EV Long Range, Tigor EV Long Range, Tata Altroz EV and even a battery powered derivative of the Tata Punch.
The company will launch its first product - an electric sports utility vehicle - in the first quarter of next year and aims to have three models within the next five years.
