Mahindra Thar Roxx

Introduction

• Mahindra launched the Thar Roxx in India on 15 August 2024.
• Though it is basically a five-door version of the Thar, the Roxx boasts much more equipment such as ADAS and 4x4 in more variants.
• Also, the Roxx is based on a new and lighter M_Glyde platform that makes it 40kg lighter than its predecessor.
• Moreover, the entire body shell is constructed from high-strength steel, including the metal hard top.
• In March 2025, the carmaker made some changes to the Roxx, majorly inside its cabin.

Exterior of the Mahindra Thar Roxx

• As for the Thar Roxx's exterior there are no design or styling changes at all since its launch.
• The Roxx can be had in its existing shades including the signature Battleship Grey.
• So yes, the Roxx continues to be the bigger sibling of the Thar three-door.
• And it's not just the wheelbase and the number of doors that have increased, but the overall size as well.
• And despite its large proportions, Mahindra has managed to keep the essential off-road attributes.
• This includes an approach angle of 41.7 degrees and a departure angle of 36.1 degrees.
• Additionally, the Roxx's ramp-over angle is 23.9 degrees and the water-wading capability is 650mm.

• The Mahindra Thar Roxx was initially launched with a lighter shade inside its cabin.
• However, with the feedback that the white upholstery gets soiled easily, Mahindra revamped the Thar Roxx with a new dark interior shade.
• Though this fix was rolled out quickly, the Roxx can be had in the lighter shade previously launched.
• As for the new Mocha shade theme, it is paired with black-coloured materials for the plastics and even the upholstery.

• The top-spec 4x4 Roxx model gets seats adorned in Mocha Brown and black coloured faux leather with contrasting stitching.
• Speaking of the plastics in the brown shade, plenty of sections on the upper dashboard, lower dash, and sides sections get this brown colour now.
• Most of the other features and equipment are unchanged from the existing line-up of variants of the Thar Roxx.
• The USPs of the Thar Roxx include ADAS, Xplor and 4Xplor, CrawlSmart and IntelliTurn, apart from the Pentalink suspension and dampers.

Powertrain of the Mahindra Thar Roxx

• Mahindra has powered the base variant of the Thar Roxx with a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine.
• This is a powerful engine producing 160bhp and 330Nm of torque.
• On the other hand, the RWD diesel model gets a 2.2-litre diesel mHawk engine producing 150bhp and 330Nm of torque.
• However, both engine options come mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
• Now, the higher-spec and petrol AT variants get a more powerful 2.0-litre mill mated to a six-speed torque converter.
• However, buyers do not get the option of 4x4 for the petrol versions.
• Nevertheless, the Thar Roxx diesel automatics come in both states of tune.
• According to the brochure, there's a 150bhp and 330Nm state of tune, and another most powerful Scorpio-N matching 171bhp and 370Nm in top-spec models.
