The Bajaj Pulsar 150 is a well-established name in the Indian two-wheeler market, offering a perfect blend of style, performance, and affordability. Over the years, the Pulsar range has expanded from 125cc to 220cc, yet the Pulsar 150 has remained a favorite across various age groups. Even with competitors closing in, the Pulsar 150 continues to hold its own, offering a reliable package that appeals to both city commuters and occasional highway riders.

The Bajaj Pulsar 150 comes with sporty styling and multiple attractive color options, such as Neon Silver, Neon Red, and Neon Green. It also offers other color combinations like Black Blue, Black Red, and Black Grey. The design features a halogen headlamp with a mini visor, a vertical-split LED tail lamp, and blacked-out alloy wheels. The side-mounted exhaust with a chrome-finished heat shield adds to the sporty appeal.

Pulsar 150 Design

The Neon variant is more minimalistic, lacking the graphics found in other variants. Overall, the Pulsar 150 offers a modern and aggressive design, with standout elements like the pillion grab-rail with chrome treatment and headlamp graphics, enhancing its street presence

Powered by a 149.5cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected DTS-i engine, the Bajaj Pulsar 150 delivers 14 PS of power and 13.4 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The engine is well-suited for city riding, providing a strong mid-range performance and a smooth-shifting gearbox. However, while it excels in urban environments, the Pulsar 150 struggles at higher RPMs, with noticeable vibrations and a lack of punch on highways. Its top speed of around 110 km/h is adequate for most commuters, though not thrilling for high-speed enthusiasts

Pulsar 150 Side View

The Bajaj Pulsar 150 is equipped with anti-friction bushes in the front forks, and Nitrox shock absorbers at the rear. This setup, along with the 31 mm front forks and twin-shock rear absorber, ensures a comfortable ride, even on bumpy roads. The bike comes with 17-inch tires and offers both disc/drum brake options, with the twin-disc variant providing enhanced braking performance through 280 mm front and 230 mm rear discs.

In terms of handling, the double-cradle frame offers balanced weight distribution, but the Pulsar 150 is not a cornering machine. It performs adequately in straight-line riding but may feel unstable during aggressive cornering

One of the highlights of the Pulsar 150 is its rider comfort. The bike features a clip-on handlebar, positioned to allow for an upright riding posture, making it comfortable for both short and long rides. The split-seat variant offers ample room for both the rider and pillion, while the Neon variant comes with a single seat that enhances comfort further.

With a kerb weight of around 150 kg, the Pulsar 150 is easy to maneuver, and its upright seating position caters well to both tall and short riders. The footpegs are positioned for a relaxed stance, although taller riders may feel slightly cramped.

Pros

  • Refined 149.5 cc DTS-i engine offering 14 PS of power and 13.4 Nm of torque, ideal for city commutes
  • Comfortable seating and practical ergonomics, suitable for daily rides and pillion comfort
  • Competitive pricing with good fuel efficiency (around 50-55 kmpl) for a 150 cc segment

Cons

  • Outdated halogen headlamp and semi-digital instrument console compared to rivals
  • Lacks high-speed stability and struggles at higher RPMs, especially on highways
  • Performance is overshadowed by competitors like TVS Apache RTR 160 in terms of acceleration and handling

Verdict

The Bajaj Pulsar 150 remains a popular and reliable choice in the 150 cc segment, offering a good balance of performance, comfort, and style at an affordable price point. While its design and feature set may feel slightly dated, the Pulsar 150 continues to hold its own with strong fuel efficiency, decent city performance, and comfortable ergonomics. It’s a great option for buyers seeking an affordable and practical commuter with a bit of sporty flair.
