What's New on BMW X3?
BMW India launched the updated BMW X3 luxury SUV in January 2022. The SUV gets a refreshed look, premium interior with new equipment features and updated infotainment. The X3 facelift comes to India via the CKD (completely knocked down) route and is assembled at the company Chennai plant. At the moment, the company is offering the X3 in only two petrol variants - BMW X3 xDrive 30i SportX Plus and BMW X3 xDrive 30i M Sport - priced at Rs. 61.9 lakh and Rs. 86.5 lakh (ex-showroom, India) respectively. The diesel version will be launched at a later date.
In India, the BMW X3 competes with the likes of the recently launched Audi Q5 facelift and the Mercedes-Benz GLC. The updated model gets a more modern look with a more powerful presence, plenty of space and driving dynamics. Visual updates include - a new, larger kidney grille with bold vertical chrome slats and border, and it's flanked by a pair of adaptive LED headlights with Matrix function. In the M Sport package, the front apron features larger air inlets finished in high-gloss black and air curtains. While both variants get new 19-inch alloy wheels, BMW is also offering optional 20-inch M alloy wheels as an early bird offer, with the M Sport trim.
At the rear, the X3 comes with new LED taillamps with black borders that make them stand out, while the narrower light graphic now includes a three-dimensionally modelled pincer contour and horizontal turn signals. The SUV also gets new, larger flush-fitted dual exhaust pipes, and a sportier rear bumper. Also, while the standard boot capacity is 550 litres, it can be expanded further to 1600 litres by folding down the 40/20/40 split rear seat backrest.
As for the cabin, it gets revised features and new upholstery choices, including Sport seats, Sensatec perforated upholstery, M leather steering wheel with multifunction buttons, M interior trim for the M Sport variant. In terms of features, the SUV also comes with a multi-function sport steering wheel, electrical seat adjustment with memory function, and an exterior mirror package. BMW also offers a panoramic glass roof, welcome light carpet, ambient lighting with six dimmable designs, and 3-zone automatic climate control with new air vents.
The tech features are also quite extensive, with the X3 featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with BMW Live Cockpit Professional and 3D Navigation. The centre of the dashboard houses the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, with BMW Gesture Control, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and Harman Kardon surround sound system. BMW also offers Parking Assistant Plus with a 360-degree view camera.
The BMW X3 is powered by a 2.0-litre in-line-four cylinder, TwinTurbo engine that makes 248 bhp at 5200 rpm and develops 350 Nm of peak torque at 1450-4800 rpm. The engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic Steptronic sport transmission, with an automatic hold function and paddle shifters. BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive (AWD) system is also offered as a standard fitment, along with variable torque distribution, Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist. The SUV also comes with four driving modes - ECOPRO, COMFORT, SPORT, SPORT+, while the M Sport option also gets Dynamic Damper Control and Performance Control.
As for safety, the SUV offers 6 airbags, Attentiveness Assistance, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), electric parking brake with auto hold, side-impact protection, electronic vehicle immobilizer and crash sensor, ISOFIX child seat mounting and integrated emergency spare wheel under the load floor.

In January of 2022, BMW India released the redesigned BMW X3 premium SUV. The SUV's exterior and interior have been changed to make them more modern and stylish. New and improved features can be found in the vehicle's premium cabin, and its technology has also been upgraded. The updated X3 is imported to India as CKD (completely knocked down) components and assembled in the manufacturer's Chennai facility. Only two gasoline models of the X3 are now available from the manufacturer: the BMW X3 xDrive 30i SportX Plus and the BMW X3 xDrive 30i M Sport.
There is a solid reason why the BMW X3 is such a popular car. It is fashionable as well as comfortable and potent. But what does the leather business have to do with this car and why should you care? Both companies are significantly reliant on various forms of technology to operate well. The BMW X3 is one of the most technologically advanced automobiles now available on the market as a result of BMW's development of a variety of ground-breaking technology. It is so cutting-edge that it even comes with its very own operating system! In a similar vein, the leather sector has come to rely largely on technology to make its commercial operations possible. There is not a single part of the industry that does not contain some kind of technological component. This includes anything from tanneries to transportation enterprises. As can be seen, the functioning of each of these industries is significantly reliant on various forms of technology. These companies will also continue to develop in tandem with the progression of technology.
The BMW X3 is an automobile that has earned several honors due to its clean design and elegant appearance. The xDrive30i and the xDrive35i are the two distinct variants that are offered for purchase. All-wheel drive, a turbocharged powertrain, and an eight-speed automatic transmission come standard on the xDrive30i. Other standard equipment include: The xDrive35i comes equipped with an increased number of extras, such as leather seats, a moon roof, and a more powerful engine.
The X3 has a design that manages to be both elegant and athletic at the same time. It has clean lines, and its profile is not very high. The enormous rectangular grille that takes up the majority of the front end is surrounded on all sides by ornate embellishments. The front fascia features angular headlamps that are mounted high up on the hood. The hood also features a massive insignia in the shape of a kidney, which contributes to the car's one-of-a-kind appearance.
There are two exhaust pipes located behind the rear-view mirror, and they are on either side of a big diffuser panel. The exterior of the vehicle is painted black, and there are silver accents in contrasting locations such as the door handles, window trim, and center console. This combination produces a stunning appearance that distinguishes itself from the appearance of other vehicles on the road.
Pros
- Impressive Design And Styling
- Comes In Exclusive Brooklyn Grey Metallic Colour
- Offered In Both Petrol And Diesel Options
Cons

Verdict
The BMW X3 stands shoulder-to-shoulder with its competitors, excelling in performance and offering competitive pricing. In certain aspects, it surpasses its rivals, notably being one of the few, alongside the GLC, to provide a diesel variant. For those in the market for a petrol SUV within the Rs. 60 to Rs. 70 lakh range, the X3 is a compelling choice. It boasts a chic design, an impressive array of features and technology, and delivers robust performance and handling. It's undoubtedly a contender worth considering.
