The prices for the BS6 Maruti Suzuki Ignis start at Rs. 5.35 lakh going all the way up to Rs. 7.32 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the manual variant while the one with the Auto Gear Shift starts at Rs. 6.49 lakh and topping out at Rs. 7.82 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Ignis facelift with the BS6 compliant engine is only available in the petrol avatar. The new Maruti Suzuki Ignis' looks have been enhanced and now gets an all-new chrome grille and a revised bumper along with beefier skid plates. The new front enhances its sporty stance for sure, while the profile and rear remains unchanged. It also gets roof rails and a striking rear spoiler. The cabin of the Ignis is identical to the outgoing model in terms of layout and design while it gets Maruti's new Smartplay Studio 2.0 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity options and a new MID unit.

Our journey began in the congested lanes of Old Delhi, moved through the high-speed corridors of the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway, and concluded with a weekend run to the foothills of Uttarakhand. This varied route allowed us to test the AMT gearbox in bumper-to-bumper traffic and the manual transmission on characterised mountain roads, providing a perspective on its performance and ride quality. This mix of conditions helped evaluate how the Ignis performs as an everyday urban car with occasional highway use.

The Ignis, just like the Baleno will get both petrol and a diesel engine. The petrol engine will be the same 1.2 litre 4-cylinder K12 enigne that does duty in the Baleno and the Swift. The diesel on the other hand is the 1.3 litre DDiS engine that again does duty in like likes of the Swift, Baleno and Ciaz. For the first time in this segment, both the petrol and diesel engine will be equipped with a AMT gearbox. The Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be launched on January 13, 2017 and should be priced aggressively. Of course, the Ignis will be available only in Nexa dealerships. The Ignis should be priced between Rs 4.50 lakh and Rs 7 lakh.1 min read
