Toyota India To Increase Prices Of Innova Crysta By 2 Per Cent In August

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced a price hike of two per cent on the Toyota Innova Crysta MPV. The price increase will be effective from August 1, 2021. The automaker said that the increment was necessary to partially offset the substantial increase in input costs. So far, the price hike seems to be restricted to the Innova Crysta alone. At present, the premium MPV is priced from Rs. 16.11 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. It's unclear at the moment if the company plans to increase prices on other models as well in the future.

Barring the Innova Crysta, Toyota has announced price hikes on other models in its range yet

In a statement, Toyota said, "We, at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, would like to announce that the company will realign the price of its flagship product "Toyota Innova Crysta" by up to 2 per cent effective from 1st August 2021. This increase is necessitated to partially offset the substantial increase in input costs. The price increase has been tapered down considering the impact on our valued customers. As a customer-centric company, we remain committed to cater to the ever-evolving needs and requirements of our customers by consciously minimizing the impact of rising costs on consumers."

Toyota joins other carmakers including Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors who've also increased prices in recent weeks. Maruti increased prices on the Swift and its CNG model line-up by up to Rs. 15,000. Meanwhile, Tata hiked prices across the range but did not reveal the quantum of the hike at the time. Both companies reasoned the rise in input cost of raw materials, which drove up costs and had to be partially passed on to customers. The Innova Crysta remains Toyota's top seller in India.
