The Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z is Bajaj Auto’s newest flagship offering in the Pulsar lineup. Positioned as an affordable entry into the 400cc segment, the NS400Z combines aggressive styling with performance. Powered by the 373 cc engine from the Dominar 400, the NS400Z offers a thrilling riding experience while being priced at a highly competitive ₹1.85 lakh (ex-showroom). With the NS400Z, Bajaj aims to deliver a motorcycle that offers a "bang for the buck" experience in terms of power, features, and value.
At first glance, the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z is reminiscent of its smaller sibling, the NS200. Both motorcycles share a similar streetfighter stance with minimal body panels, aggressive lines, and a muscular fuel tank. However, Bajaj has made subtle tweaks to differentiate the NS400Z. The Z-shaped LED DRLs, more pronounced tank extensions, and sleek rear tail section give it a slightly bulkier and more muscular appearance.

The motorcycle is fitted with a LED projector headlamp that provides excellent illumination, improving both night-time visibility and safety. The full-LED lighting system (including tail lamps and turn signals) gives it a modern touch, while the USB-A charging port and hazard switch add to the bike’s convenience. The digital display, though functional and easy to read, could have benefited from a more polished design.

Despite the design similarities to the NS200, the overall fit and finish of the NS400Z are commendable, and the bike’s sporty graphics and contrasting color schemes further highlight its streetfighter character

Pros
- Competitive pricing at Rs 1.85 lakh, making it the most affordable 400cc motorcycle in its segment
- Impressive performance with a 373cc engine producing 39.4 bhp and 35 Nm of torque
- Lighter than the Dominar 400 by 18 kg, enhancing acceleration and handling
Cons
- Design closely resembles the NS200, lacking uniqueness for a flagship model
- Tyres could be better for improved grip and braking performance
- Slight vibrations at lower and higher rpm ranges
Verdict
The Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z offers exceptional value for money, packing solid performance and a host of features at a competitive price. While it could benefit from a more distinctive design and better tyres, its power, agility, and affordability make it a strong contender in the 400cc segment. With its potent engine and accessible price, the NS400Z is an appealing option for riders seeking performance on a budget.

- It comes with a few compromises3.0Standard(Petrol)The Bajaj Pulsar NS400 offers great performance and looks. The engine is powerful and delivers excellent acceleration, making it ideal for highways. However, the fuel efficiency could be better, and the bike feels heavy in city traffic. The seating is decent, but longer rides may not be the most comfortable. Overall, it’s a solid choice for those looking for performance, but it comes with a few compromises.By Sagar ChanchalaniPosted on: Sep 28, 2024 02:00 PM10
- My Experiance after one and half year5.0Standard(Petrol)After 3000 km on my NS400, sharing my experience: Pros: Appearance: The NS400 stands out with its unique Pulsar design, though reminiscent of the NS200. It offers a muscular and stylish look. Fuel Efficiency: Achieves 35-39 kmpl on highways, maintaining decent mileage with a balanced riding style. Performance: As the most affordable 400cc bike, its power is linear and handling precise, but feels more like a high-end 250cc. Features: Offers dual ABS, ride modes, traction control, connectivity, USD forks—a comprehensive package. Comfort: Upright seating with minimal wrist pressure; stiffer suspension suited for long rides. Service & Quality: Good support from Bajaj; notable improvement in build quality compared to previous models. Cons: Vibrations: Noticeable at 4-5k rpm. Display: Lacks refinement; pixelation issues in direct sunlight. Headlight: Poor adjustment causing glare issues for oncoming traffic.By Pragnesh JainPosted on: Nov 15, 2024 04:10 PM10
- THIS IS A GAME CHANGER BIKE5.0Standard(Petrol)it is a game changer for performance bike who want an affordable, high-displacement bike. Building on the NS series' reputation, the NS400 would likely come with a powerful engine, perhaps a derivative of the Dominar’s 373cc motor, offering strong acceleration and highway performance.By Marvan JasenPosted on: Nov 15, 2024 04:20 PM10
- Could be better in 400 CC section3.0Standard(Petrol)The aggressive, forward-leaning stance seen on the NS series may offer sporty handling but could prove less comfortable for long, bumper-to-bumper commutes. Price-wise, if positioned right, it could disrupt the market, but Bajaj would need to ensure build quality and service support match expectations, as riders here value reliability and hassle-free maintenance. Competing with established offerings like Royal Enfield and KTM would mean walking a tightrope between raw performance, comfort, and cost efficiency.By Gopal SethiPosted on: Nov 15, 2024 04:14 PM00
